We aren't professional decorators, but we can see that a well-placed table lamp is the finishing touch to any living space and can transform even the darkest nook into a cosy retreat. The room's cherry on top, as some might put it!
Since we're talking about table lamps right now, we'd like to recommend ceramics as a material to consider if you're unsure about which lamp to choose—aside from being long-lasting, beautiful, and versatile, they also stand the test of time.
The issue with ceramic table lamps, though, is that the better ones tend to be extremely pricey. Some high-quality designer options can cost from $350 to as much as $2300, which is far more than we're ready to spend on decor pieces for our home.
And that's when Kmart and our trusted crafting skills come to the rescue. Here, we'll show you a simple DIY project for making your own version of a very popular designer lamp, minus the hefty price tag, of course!

Bubble lamps are a huge hit among home stylists nowadays, but did you know you can remake them at your home using only a few items from Kmart and Bunnings?
Sharing on YouTube, DIY expert Nicole Herrick reveals how she made a bubble lamp for her home using a lamp, a light bulb, bases and shade bought from Bunnings and a couple of bubble pots from Kmart.
Instead of shelling out hundreds of dollars for a designer lamp, she made herself one for less than $60. A pretty good bargain, if you ask us!
To make the DIY bubble lamp, begin by stacking two of the pots on top of each other and then using a strong adhesive to glue them together. After that, take the mini lamp stand, which can be purchased from hardware and home stores such as Bunnings and IKEA, and place it into the top pot.
Now that you have your lamp base constructed, you can paint the pots any colour you choose or that matches the decor of the room. (Neutral tones are safest, but you can always go bold; Nicole painted hers black!)
It's also up to you to pick the shade for the lamp. You should make sure that the bottom of the lamp is covered with felt so that it does not damage the surface it will be placed on.
