'I don't know what to make of that!': Mum shares odd money-saving experience at her local Bunnings

Bargain hunting has been a pastime for many, and there's nothing quite like the thrill of scoring massive discounts in-store.

What if there was a peculiar reason behind the markdown?

Would you still take the deal, or would the odd justification make you pause?

This was the conundrum online content creator Montana Older faced recently.

Montana, a mum, shared her recent shopping experience online that left many Aussies scratching their heads.

Montana's husband recently went on a trip to Bunnings to pick up a kids' tool kit for their daughter.

'My husband got this 14-piece, little kids tool kit for my daughter,' Montana prefaced.

'Because he said it was for his daughter, they gave it to him at half price.'

'This is $50, and he was like, "Oh, it's for my daughter", she added for context.

'The lady took him to the front and said, "Just give it to him for $25."'

The unexpected price slash left Montana bemused and questioning the rationale behind it.

'I don't know what to make of that! Why, because she's a girl, is it half price?' Montana asked on the video.

'If anything, it should be the same price. Isn't that what we're fighting for?'

Several spectators chimed in with their theories about Montana's experience.

'Maybe she was into your husband?' one asked.

'Possibility she was flirting?’ another agreed.

'I'm going to go with that she was probably into your husband,' a third joined in.

However, a former Bunnings staff member offered a more practical explanation.

The staff member pointed out that the tool kit could have been leftover Christmas stock on clearance sale.

'We are allowed to mark down items that are low stock or stock that we are trying to get rid of,' the staff member explained.

'We have authority to do so without need a major—most likely the case here these were Christmas stock so they would be wanting to get rid of it.'

'They're promotional items and usually leftover stock, so often the team have a level of discretion,' another staff member shared.

So, what can we take away from this peculiar discount?

While it's important to be mindful of the reasons behind a discount, sometimes it's just a matter of being in the right place at the right time.

For savvy seniors who love a good DIY project or are looking to stock up on toys for their grandkids, keep an eye out for those end-of-season sales and don't be shy to inquire about price reductions.

If it is such an issue why is it not the husband putting his face forward in this post. The wife had nothing to do with it - other than complaining as an excuse to putting her puss in front of the camera.
No doubt the reason was either a clearance item or alternatively a thank you to the man for supporting his daughter in a male-dominated occupation.

Now I'm really Gobsmacked.....in times of Financial hardship in our Community, we now have 'Content Creators' actually complaining about receiving a hefty 50% discount on some goods purchased for their own daughter. WTF.🙃

I'm not surprised. Aren't they the forever outraged brigade? Half price for a girl! So sexist, so outrageous she can hardly breathe etc etc.
