How do you get a good night's rest? Help 🥲

Goooood morning! I hope your week has been filled with little wins and moments of joy.

Now, I’ve got a little confession to make: I’ve been having some trouble sleeping at night lately. Does anyone else struggle with this? I’d love to hear what tips or tricks you’ve got to get a good night’s rest.

Gmeetings to everyone. At some stage, we all have disturbed sleep, which can become a pattern, unless the problem underlying it is resolved. Whether it's because of worry over difficulties in our lives, or physical problems which cause pain, and the inability to find a comfortable way to lie, sleeping poorly affects every aspect of our lives. I think it's vital to avoid taking sleeping tablets, which over time, become less effective, needing a bigger dose to achieve the same effect. (Addiction). Eating a healthy diet, and if possible exercising every day is a start. Seek counselling if problems cause restless nights. I live with chronic pain, after decades of nursing, I don't even take Panadol, I've learned to concentrate on memories which give me pleasure, more difficult at night when there are no distractions, however it can be achieved. Meditation, getting natural light during the day, avoiding caffeine and alcohol before bed, and not being hungry or overfull, having the bedroom dark and quiet, and not watching disturbing programmes on television are essential. Lastly, and most importantly, look at taking magnesium, which is an essential mineral, found in nuts, dairy, soy, and whole grains. Check the dosage, 310 to 420 mgs, is advised, and women should take less than men. Your doctor or pharmacist will advise. There are numerous publications regarding getting a decent night's sleep, the library will have books on the subject. Sleep well 😴.
 
Over the years, I have had some problems sleeping until I found The Australian Sleep Co. Pillow Spray (all natural quality essential oils). I am using it every night now and my sleep has greatly improved and I can recommend it. The Company also has other products in this range as well.
AND absolutely no screen time for at least an hour before bed!!

I have found a lavender flowers wrapped up in a hankie put underneath my pillow or scattered inside my pillow case suits me.
Smell is not so strong , that it overwhelms my breathing.

My son and I have had a great deal of trouble sleeping since the appearance of the full moon on the 1st of December, but as the weather has been warmer and on the muggy side we were undecided what was causing our dilemma. A couple of days ago I purchased an air conditioner for my bedroom. As it will be installed on the wall facing the door, which coincidently was were my bedhead was, I decided to place my bed beside the door in order to face the air conditioner which is to be installed next Thursday. So we turned the bed around yesterday. Now, when in bed I am facing West. I fell asleep on my right side, which meant I was facing the window wall to the North. Now whether all this is just a coincidence is for the reader to make up their mind about, but I slept like a baby. I have yet to have a chat with my son to find out how he slept. Could simply be that the atmospheric conditions provided more oxygen making good nights sleep easier.
 
I wear a smart watch to record my sleep. I am determined to get as much deep sleep as possible as it is believed to help prevent dementia. I always make sure my feet are warmer than the rest of my body, either with a throw across the foot of the bed, or in winter.. bedsocks! So glamorous!!
As others have said also, no caffeine, no alcohol, no heavy meal close to bedtime. Earlier in the day is fine. Cheers 🥂

I am the opposite, I wake up around 3 am - 4 am only rarely. I can count maybe
4 times a year this happens.
I have a coffee. 10 mins later I go back to sleep. Why, I have no clue in how I can do that. :)

I can eat anything I want and drink coffee or Milo while lying in bed watching tv and I still get a good few hours of deep sleep😴 every body is different.

So much stress this time of year. Go to a nice heated pool for some exercise with a kick board, finish with relax floating. Helps get rid of stress & excess cortisol. Nice warm show before bed…. the pool exercise might help sleep
