Home and Away's Johnny Ruffo teases fans with a potential return

We all have our favourite television programs that we just can't get enough of, and for a lot of Aussies, one show that continues to reign supreme is Home and Away.
The Australian soap opera has been running for over 30 years now, and even though it's undergone a lot of changes during that time – including cast – there are still some much-loved characters who keep viewers coming back for more.
One actor who was hugely popular during his time on the show was Johnny Ruffo, who played Chris Harrington from 2013 to 2016. He even won a Logie Award for Most Popular New Talent in 2014.
He also famously developed an onscreen and offscreen friendship with his comedy partner Lynne McGranger (Irene Roberts), which continues to this day.
Sadly, Ruffo left the show when his character was written off in 2016. It was a huge blow to fans of the show who had grown attached to his character over the years. But there may be some good news on the horizon!

In a recent interview with Yahoo Lifestyle, Ruffo revealed that he would love to make a cameo appearance in Summer Bay at some point in the future…and fans went wild!
'I'd love to go back on Home and Away [and] spend some more time with Irene,' Ruffo said, referring to his onscreen and offscreen close friend Lynne McGranger.
'We had a great relationship on [the show], and we still have a great relationship out of Home and Away, Lynne and I. We are really good friends.'
When asked how he would want to see his character return to the television series, he responded that he would want to 'simply show up' at the Pier Diner.
'Just waltz in, like not tell anyone, just waltz on in and order a coffee. And Lynne — I mean Irene — would be like…Chris!' he joked.
Ruffo's time on Home and Away, unfortunately, coincided with some tough times in his personal life. In 2017, he was diagnosed with a brain tumour and underwent surgery to remove it. He was declared cancer-free in 2019, but tragically, his cancer returned and is now terminal.
Despite this, Ruffo has been maintaining a positive attitude and says he wants to focus on making memories now rather than looking to the future.
Even though he fears for the emotional well-being of his partner Tahnee Sims should he succumb to cancer, he is making an effort every single day to express his gratitude to the people who matter to him.
'I suppose it's inevitable for the ones that you love that at some point they're going to have to go through something that's quite difficult,' he admitted.
'So try and spend as much time as you can with them. Create great memories. And so when they do think about you, they think of the good things, and they smile.'
We certainly hope that Ruffo gets to make his cameo appearance on Home and Away sooner rather than later! He's an amazing actor who has been through so much, and we know that his return to Summer Bay would be a welcome one for fans of the show.
