Home and Away has long been a staple of Australian television, capturing the hearts of viewers with its dramatic storylines and charismatic characters.

It's no wonder that the announcement of Sophie Dillman and Patrick O'Connor's return to the show has sent waves of excitement through the fan community.

The beloved duo, who portray Ziggy Astoni and Dean Thompson, are set to grace the screens of Summer Bay once again, and the anticipation is palpable.

For those who have been following the show, Ziggy and Dean's on-again-off-again romance has been nothing short of a rollercoaster ride.

Their chemistry has been a highlight of the series, and their departure left many viewers with a Ziggy and Dean-shaped hole in their hearts.

But now, the wait is over, and the actors are gearing up to film in the picturesque Whitsunday Region of tropical north Queensland for what is being teased as a top-secret storyline.

The broadcast date for their return is slated for early 2025, and while that may seem like a long wait, it's sure to be worth it.

The pair's last appearance on the show in March 2023 saw them make the tough decision to leave Summer Bay for Queensland, with their newborn baby girl Izzy in tow, so Dean could be closer to his son, Jai.

This move marked a significant moment in their lives, and fans have been eager to see what's next for the couple.

Sophie Dillman, who first stepped into the role of Ziggy in 2017, expressed her joy at returning to the show, saying, ‘It feels so good to be home!’

Patrick O'Connor, who joined the cast as Dean a year later in 2018, shared similar sentiments, stating, ‘I can’t wait for the action, and for fans to see this storyline play out.’

The on-and-off-screen couple, who began dating in 2019, took a hiatus from the show in 2023 to work and travel in the United Kingdom.

Throughout their journey, they've kept fans updated via social media, but their return to Australia and the show was a delightful surprise to many.

The specifics of their storyline are being kept under wraps, but the intrigue only adds to the excitement.

What could possibly bring Ziggy and Dean back to Summer Bay? Will their relationship have withstood the test of time and distance? And how will baby Izzy have grown during their time away?

These are the questions on every fan's mind, and the answers are sure to provide some gripping television.

As we await more details on their guest appearances, fans can continue to enjoy the drama of Home and Away from Monday to Thursday at 7 PM AEDT on Channel 7 and 7plus, where the lives of Summer Bay's residents continue to unfold.

The return of fan favourites to Home and Away has undoubtedly thrilled viewers, but it's not the only buzzworthy development in Summer Bay.

Recently, fans have been vocal about their desire for a guest character to become a permanent fixture on the show.

This growing demand highlights the strong connection and emotional investment the audience has with the characters and storylines, making it clear that Home and Away continues to captivate its loyal viewers.

I don't mind the show, unlike some. If the show isn't something some people don't want to watch, then don't.
I think Ziggy and Dean's return to the show, is a good thing. Would I rather they be permanent fixtures? Yes. It would certainly offer the writers more storyline opportunities, rather than some stale ones on the go now.
I'm not a fanatic about the show, but I know there are people who live and breath the show every time it's on. I respect their choices just as much as those who seem to be the negatives.

This show is nothing but a revamped Blue Heelers. "Summer Bay" and "Mt Thomas" are synonymous. For such locations to host a murder in what seems every second episode, their whole populations have been killed off over and over again.

How these shows ever became popular is beyond me.

Watched it right at the beginning then it became a bit boring so stopped. To each his own if they still watch it ,but for me I think it should end they seem to have gone off the rails a bit, like the revamp of Neighbours

It all depends on the script writers. They all go home to their own families.
