Hilarious fail captured live as Sunrise presenter falls on co-host

Ever had one of those days where everything just seems to go wrong? You know – you spill your coffee, can't find your keys, and then trip over your own feet in front of a group of people. It’s unfortunate, but hey, it happens to the best of us!

Even the most seasoned professionals have their off days – something presenter Monique Wright learned the hard way during a recent episode.

While filling in for usual host Nat Barr on Thursday morning, TV presenter Monique Wright found herself in an awkward position after she fell on sports reporter Mark Beretta – while reading the news.

It happened during a faux Sumo wrestling match with Mark and another person, all to promote the Sumo Suit championship in Sydney.

As Mark fell to the ground, Monique continued to read the news on the teleprompter. She stopped briefly to extend a helping hand to the sports reporter, who seemed to have a hard time getting back on his feet.

As she grabs his hand, co-host David Koch jokingly tells Monique: ‘No, don’t help him up, push him down.’

Monique listened to Kochie and sat on Mark, just as a crew member entered the scene to keep Mark on the ground as well. However, Monique was also tackled to the ground and fell on top of Mark.

But the show must go on, so Monique continued to follow what was on her script and read the news, despite struggling to end the segment in an awkward position on the ground.

‘Still, to come this morning, we’ve got some breaking news, Australia to play Argentina in the knockout round of the World Cup,’ she said through laughter.

Kochie came to her rescue and closed the segment, while Monique stayed on the ground for a few moments (probably contemplating how she got to this point).

Fans were in stitches over Monique’s on-air blunder and shared their comments on Sunrise’s Instagram account.

‘Oh Mon, you are awesome. Absolutely love when you’re on and I never miss Weekend Sunrise to watch you! You are such a breath of fresh air,’ wrote one fan.

‘Mon is stealing ever anchors spotlight, just joins in on anything,’ another replied.

A third commented: ‘So many laughs always with Mon.’

Why is having a bit of fun a fail. It makes these TV personalities human, which they are. There is no way to be perfect all the time. No one was hurt so just have a laugh at the segment and move on. I'm sure those involved did.
