If there’s one thing shoppers love, it’s a stylish bargain that looks far more expensive than its price tag.
Kmart’s latest release has sparked a rush of excitement—and frustration—among those desperate to get their hands on it.
The Santorini Lounge Chair quickly became one of the retailer’s most in-demand pieces, and now it’s proving difficult to find.
Following the sell-out success of the Marlo Lounge Chair earlier this year, Kmart introduced the Santorini Lounge Chair, a terracotta and white striped design retailing at $99.
Sydney mum Emily Tollenaar shared that she thought the item was ‘definitely higher quality than most things at Kmart’.
‘The chair felt heavy and solid, and the cushion was thick and comfortable.’
At the same time, she admitted the piece was ‘on the pricier side’ compared to most Kmart offerings.
The design appeared to echo high-end options like Temple & Webster’s Lowen Sling Accent Chair, which retails for $949 but was currently on sale for $899.
Shoppers across Australia flocked to their local stores, with many sharing on social media how they styled the piece in their homes.
But the rush left many others empty-handed, as the chair quickly sold out online.
A Kmart spokesperson confirmed the limited availability, saying: ‘As it is part of the OnePass sale, there is limited availability on the Lounge Chair.’
They added: ‘The Kmart Santorini Lounge Chair has quickly become a customer-favourite, with shoppers rushing to snap it up. Its sleek and playful look, paired with an affordable price, has made it one of Kmart’s most in-demand buys. The chair’s curved, coastal-inspired design makes it a statement piece that elevates any space instantly.’
While the item had sold out on the website, a random search showed some stock still available at certain stores, including Glendale and Rouse Hill in New South Wales.
However, Kmart said they could not provide a full list of stores due to the speed at which the chairs were selling.
Customers were instead encouraged to use the store locator tool online and call ahead to confirm availability.
Shoppers styled the chair indoors and outdoors, though it was designed for indoor use.
One customer noted: ‘We are super lucky and have a big undercover area where these will be living but I’d definitely take the cushions off for storms etc! I’m interested to see how they go…’
Another suggested using protective sprays like Scotch Guard for the cushions and Solar Gard for the metal.
For those wanting an outdoor version, Kmart released a similar style for $119, but it also sold out online, leaving customers again to check stores directly.
What This Means For You
Kmart’s Santorini Lounge Chair, priced at just $99, quickly disappeared from online shelves as shoppers rushed to secure the bargain buy.
Its design closely mirrored high-end pieces that sold for nearly $900, making it an attractive option for anyone wanting luxury on a budget.
While many customers styled the chair both indoors and outdoors, it was intended for indoor use, leading some to look for ways to protect it if placed outside.
An outdoor version was also released, but like the original, it sold out online just as fast.
For those who appreciate timeless style without breaking the bank, this chair was a reminder that smart shopping can still bring a touch of elegance home—if you act quickly enough.
