Welcome! I totally agree with you about always finding redeemable qualities in everyone :) But that usually only becomes apparent when you're kind enough to bring out the best in them... so in actual fact, that's a compliment to you!

How have you been spending retirement? I'm sure it must not be easy going from such a high level of physical activity to none at all. Did they call you back during the wildfires?

Hi Xe, My retirement is spent on tracing the family tree which I must say a few surprises jump out of the closet with a few skeletons, but it has been enjoyable.
I travel a lot, love cruising, the one that always seems to stick out is the Alaskan cruise followed by the Bahama cruise. I saw Australia first before I headed overseas as the people you meet always have questions about Australia and would seem a silly answer "I don't know". I didn't get call back on the bush fires, I was Management at the end of my career in the fire service.

Oooh thats interesting. I've spoken to quite a few members of the forum who are into genealogy. It's something I'd like to try someday since my father and both his parents died when I was very young, so I often feel like there's half of me that I know nothing about. Is it very difficult to do?

I found out that no one seem to speak about their Ancestors and after discovering a few things I know why. My Great Grandfather married his first cousin as there were not too many eligible non-related females about. They migrated from Germany and seemed to all be allocated to one place or town.
Start talking to your relatives that are still alive you will find out that they have a lot of info about your parents.

That's a good idea but dealing with them is like pulling teeth to be honest :) But thanks for the advice!
