I didn’t read Heidi but I did like reading when I was young. Just the other day I found a box of my childhood books and have enjoyed flicking through them, remembering the stories and the pictures.

Alice in Wonderland was my very favourite as a young child. I loved the part where she changed into a bigger and smaller person!

I have the book Heidi given to my Late mother on her birthday in 1945 by her sister my beautiful Late Aunty May and her Late husband Uncle Roy. May they all rest in peace.

Enid Blyton was my favorite from the Faraway tree & noddy when young into the Famous Five and Secret seven, when older. Also loved the Little bush maid series by MAry Grant Bruce along with the Silver Brumy series from Elyne Mitchell

I have a much loved, slightly tattered book of Heidi. My older sister spent twelve months at the Far West Children’s Home in Manly when she was twelve, having treatment for congenital cataracts. This was in the early 1960s. When she returned home she had a small gift for all seven of us brothers and sisters, as well as mum and dad. My present was this book. I read it so many times, I loved the story and would daydream about living the same life as Heidi. It is a treasured possession given to me by my sister who passed away from cancer almost twenty years ago now.
