Heart-warming act done by a young couple, shared by member Len H.

The lovely member Len H. wanted to share a moving story that he stumbled across this week. If you're looking to boost your spirits, you need to read this!

'This was a Facebook post this week, we live in a great community in Busselton in Western Australia:

The poster wrote: "Just want to say a big thank you to the young couple at the Busselton cinema who made my little girls night after walking into the cinema to see it had sold out of the' Barbie' movie to which she was heartbroken as she was looking forward to it all week, the couple gave up their tickets and when we asked how much they wanted for them and they gave them to my daughter and her dad for free and told them to enjoy, never had a moment of generosity like this so I am thankful you made my little girls night and we will be sure to pay it forward, thank you so much".'

It isn't really a children's movie. They might enjoy the colour, special effects and Barbie sets but they are not likely to understand the message. The movie is about the unrealistic life view presented by the perfect Barbie version of being female and the movie also makes fun of patriarchy.

Sad to see the word "woke" being turned into something other than its true meaning. The word originated in the black community in America to refer to a person being aware of prejudice and discrimination. Later it came to include to be aware of social inequalities such as sexism. Unfortunately the political right has been using it as a way of abusing a person's attitudes. To be woke is in fact a good thing however now to be Woke has negative overtones. It is hard to know if your son is using it in its correct meaning or not. The movie is educational for men as it highlights Patriarchy as a negative in our society, however most men will not see the movie, as the hype has presented it as a movie for children or women. The movie shows Patriarchy for the negative thing that it is, and some men are likely to be offended by a movie showing that women are not happy with a patriarchal society.

That was a lovely gesture. A few years ago I was at a weight club lunch and got talking to a lady from a different weight club. We were looking at the raffle prizes and I said I would love to win the painting of 3 ducks. Towards the end of the raffle, the painting was still there and the lady I had been talking to won it. I spoke to her later and said I was pleased she had won it. She said she only won it so she could give it to me. How lovely was that?

Seriously? Perhaps you need to check yourself before attempting to judge others.
