Heads up: Centrelink updates schedule ahead of ANZAC Day 2024

ANZAC Day, a significant day of remembrance in Australia and New Zealand, falls on Thursday, 25 April 2024.

As the public holiday approaches, it's important for our members who rely on Centrelink services to be aware of the changes that could affect their payments and reporting dates.

Centrelink branches and most call centres will be closed in observance of this solemn occasion.

But while face-to-face services will not be available, you can still access online services and phone self-services to manage your affairs.

For those required to report income to Centrelink, it's crucial to note that your reporting dates may be moved forward due to the public holiday.

Your Centrelink online account will display the new reporting date specific to the ANZAC Day period, so be sure to check in and mark the date on your calendar.

‘When you report early, you’ll need to include what you expect to be paid for that reporting period,’ Services Australia said in its announcement.

‘You must also do this for any other changes that may affect your payment.’

‘If you make a mistake, you can correct your report within 14 days or when you next report. You can still report your income to us, even when we’re closed.’

‘However, if you do this on a public holiday, we’ll pay you after the public holiday,’ it added.

‘You can also choose to report after your reporting period if you’re unsure of your employment income (or) there are changes to your circumstances during your reporting period.’

‘You can report once you know your employment income or the changes to your circumstances.’

Now, for those who do not need to report income to receive your Centrelink payment, here's some good news: your payment will be processed a day early.

Specific date changes will apply to various Centrelink services and benefits, including JobSeeker, Youth Allowance, Farm Household, Austudy, Special Benefit, and Status Resolution Support Services payments:
  • Reporting for the 22 April moved to 19 April, with payment on the following Monday.
  • Reporting for the 23 April moved to the 22 April, with payment on the following Tuesday.
  • Reporting for the 24 April moved to the 23 April, with payment on the following Wednesday.
  • Reporting for the 25 April moved to the 24 April, with payment on the following Friday.

Similarly, adjustments will be made for those receiving families payment, Parenting Payment, Pensioner Education Supplement, Assistance for Isolated Child, Carer Payment, Carer Allowance, ABSTUDY, and the Age, Disability, or Double Orphan pension.

The dates are as follows:
  • 22 April reporting moved to 19 April, with payment on 23 April.
  • 23 April reporting moved to 22 April, with payment on 24 April.
  • 24 April reporting moved to 23 April, with payment on 26 April.
  • 25 April reporting moved to 24 April, with payment on 29 April.
If you have any concerns or questions, don't hesitate to contact Centrelink for guidance.

I wondered why they paid the pension into my account on Tuesday...

You should have been forewarned like we did last fortnight did you not get a message.🤔
No... found out by checking my bank account as I like to have $0.16 cents in it.
I check my bank accounts 4-5 times a day.
