Who remembers using a hand wringer to dry clothes? Back then, almost every home had this handy tool, which simplified washing clothes. Do you have fond memories of using a hand wringer every washing day?

Mom had a Pope washing machine with a wringer on the top would not have a automatic washing machine no good to me she would say in the end I bought a new automatically washing machine Mom refused to use it said that it to difficult for her to use so I said I set it up for you and all you have to do is take the washing out when it's finished.
After a few washing loads Mum said can you show me how to use it, so I went through the process and Mom said is that all you do I said that is why it is called a automatically washing, after that it was the greatest thing since sliced bread.
Fond memories

I remember Mum having one of these in England when I was little and I helped her by cranking the handle as she guided the items through. I don't know how many times though a shirt button became a casualty and either broke or came off the shirt! Mum did a lot of sewing repairs!

If only we were “ updating “ourselves in recent times we would not be in pickle we are now.

I always knew it as a mangle, probably because that’s what it could do to your fingers. 😂

Ours was clamped to the twin concrete tubs. The washing was lifted out of the gas copper with a special "stick" designed for that, rinsed in a trough of cold water, through the wringer into the rinse water, then through the wringer again. You had to catch it so it didn't go in the water again.
