Half a million shocked: Is this bizarre 'psychopath' flight habit of a famous Australian TV star affecting you?

In an age where technology is practically an extension of ourselves, it's hard to imagine sitting still without the constant buzz of electronic stimulation. But one Australian TV personality's recent flight experience has left many questioning their own in-flight habits and whether they could handle the digital detox challenge he unintentionally took on.

Grant Denyer, a household name in Australia, known for his vibrant TV presence and quick wit, has caused quite the stir among his nearly half a million Instagram followers. The 46-year-old presenter and former host of 'Family Feud' shared a snapshot of himself on a flight from Brisbane to Sydney that sparked a frenzy of reactions. Denyer's crime? Sitting through a 90-minute flight without the aid of any electronic devices or even a book to pass the time.

The image, accompanied by a caption that humorously self-diagnosed him as a 'MF psychopath,' showed Denyer sitting serenely in his seat, apparently lost in thought. 'No ear pods. No Netflix. No book. No screen. No podcasts. No Music. Just sitting there, with his thoughts,' he wrote, leaving many to wonder how one could endure such a journey in today's hyper-connected world.

The reactions from his fans ranged from amusement to outright disbelief. Some expressed concern for his well-being, while others joked about the necessity of packing headphones to avoid a similar fate. One follower, identifying as an 'ADHDer with a fear of my internal thoughts,' described Denyer's flight experience as their personal hell.

The intrigue deepened when it was revealed that Denyer's wife, Cheryl, was inadvertently responsible for her husband's tech-free flight. She had accidentally taken all the electronic devices with her, leaving Denyer without his usual digital comforts. 'Sorry I took everything home with me haha accidentally,' Cheryl commented, adding to the light-hearted banter.

Denyer's response to the wide-ranging reactions was to embrace his newfound status as a 'monk,' joking about the tranquility of his unplugged flight experience. He even quipped about not rushing to unbuckle his seatbelt when the sign turned off, a move he described as 'wild.'

This isn't the first time Denyer has entertained his fans with his flight antics. His previous posts have included edited selfies with humorous additions, such as wearing a hat and smoking a cigarette in the cabin, and doodles on the plane window that have become part of his 'art collection.'

But beyond the laughs and the social media buzz, Denyer's experience raises a question worth pondering: Are we capable of disconnecting from our devices, even for a short while? In a society where the fear of missing out (FOMO) drives us to constantly check our phones, tablets, and laptops, could we benefit from following in Denyer's footsteps and embracing moments of stillness?

For our senior readers, this might resonate with times gone by when flights were a chance to relax, reflect, or strike up a conversation with a stranger. It's a reminder that sometimes, the best company we can have is our own thoughts.

What the hell is in his ears??? Ear buds? They look like my ear phones that connect remotely to my phone which I can keep in my bag. Not connected? I call bull.

Wondered that myself until read it was from an earlier unrelated Instgram post. I've noticed a lot of articles from various sources put up photos of people it's talking about, but the photo is unrelated to that article.

I rather enjoy being tech free on flights as long as I have the window seat. Even on long flights I enjoy being tech free apart from taking pics through the window but I don't count that.

What on earth is the problem, if he chooses to quietly sit in his seat and maybe Meditate or just have a minute or so to reflect on the events of the day, or what the rest of the day is likely to be like.
If it wasn't a Celebrity who would have given a thought to whatever that person was doing or not doing.
Are we all so shallow to take notice of some poor fellow who just wanted some privacy in his own space and mind.
