Guess who's back? Iconic Aussie star returns to TV after years out of the spotlight

Now, we know what you're thinking. If we challenged you to name one of Australia's most iconic TV stars, we bet you'd start with celebrity personalities from popular shows like Neighbours or Home and Away.

But have you ever considered the power of an infectious jingle and a young, bright-eyed girl marching to its beat?

Today we're dusting off the nostalgia and honouring the return of our original Happy Little Vegemite to our TV screens! You read it right, Trish Cavanagh is back and on a rather momentous occasion.

Trish Cavanagh was just a sprightly seven-year-old when she first danced her way to fame, marching to the famous 'Happy Little Vegemite' tune that had almost every Aussie humming along.

Sixty-four years later, she is back, blessing our small screens once again and reprising her original, iconic role. The reason? A celebration close to all our hearts: Vegemite's 100th birthday!

You read that right—the iconic Vegemite is now a century old! Born out of the desire to create a robust, nutritious food source from brewer's yeast during the early 20th century, Vegemite quickly won the hearts, stomachs, and toasts of Australians everywhere. It's not just a simple sandwich spread; it's a cultural icon that has spanned generations!

'I never anticipated how filming that first commercial would change my life forever,' reminisced Trish, who was asked back in April to lead the Vegemite March once more for this major milestone.

Since her childhood fame, Trish has led a vibrant life while always holding a soft spot for her stint as Australia's first 'Happy Little Vegemite'.

Can you imagine it? All those years ago, Trish marched on screens when colour was an imagination, striding ahead and encapsulating the dreams of hundreds of children who, inspired by her, took centre stage in numerous successful Vegemite campaigns to date.

'These children today may not fully grasp the momentous weight of being part of this campaign, but I hope that in due course, they look back with pride,' Trish expressed.

In honour of Vegemite's momentous 100th birthday, a casting call was sent out earlier this year to find the next batch of cheerful little Vegemites. And guess what? A whopping 10,000 Aussie children eagerly stepped up to take part!

After a rigorous round of auditions, the final lucky stars who were handpicked to shine bright in this new generation of Vegemite ambassadors are Brielle, Cyril, Albie, Amber, Ava, and Xavier.

Get ready to see these adorable young talents spreading smiles and enjoying Vegemite's delightful goodness as they embark on this exciting adventure. It's a celebration you won't want to miss!

'Happy Little Vegemite' wasn't the only jingle that hit gold with Australia. We've had some truly iconic TV advertisements that are etched deep in our cultural narrative.

Remember the 'Louie the Fly' for Mortein or the memorable 'Not Happy, Jan' Yellow Pages ad? These commercials, just like the Vegemite jingle, serve as capsules of our collective past, transporting us back to simpler times every time they play.
