Grounded & Scammed A Lesson in Vigilance​

Today took an unexpected turn: I was nearly scammed out of a couple of thousand dollars. Even though I’ve spent years in IT, advocating for cybersecurity & cyberswareness the stress of Etihad Airways canceling my flight got the best of me.

After they made me rebook for double the price and delayed my departure by 12 days, I turned to their social media account where I was within 8 hours flooded by imposters posing as Etihad staff!

All very convincing.

Over 5 scammers reached out, including a very convincing call center guy from Kenya who was extremely supportive.
