Great news for horror fans! The Exorcist releases new sequel titled 'Believer'

It's been almost 50 years since William Friedkin's original 1973 horror masterpiece The Exorcist terrified audiences worldwide.

Based on the 1971 novel by William Peter Blatty, the film about a young girl possessed by a demon became a massive commercial success and is still considered one of the scariest films ever made.

Now, filmmaker David Gordon Green, known for the recent acclaimed Halloween trilogy reboot, brings the acclaimed horror franchise roaring back to life with a new sequel fittingly titled The Exorcist: Believer.

Over the decades, the original supernatural horror film inspired multiple movies with varying levels of quality—1977's Heretic, 1978's audience-dividing The Exorcist II: The Heretic, and 2004's The Exorcist: The Beginning—but none truly matched the impact of the chilling original.

Picking up many years after the events of the first film, Believer sees Ellen Burstyn reprising her iconic role as Chris MacNeil, the mother of Regan, the girl possessed in the 1973 movie.

When two teenage girls mysteriously vanish after walking in the woods near their small town, they return in a possession state requiring an exorcism. MacNeil, now experienced in demonic possession, joins a team attempting to save the girls from the evil spirits within them.

The film wastes no time building tension and mystery around the disappearances before the terrifying possession sequences take over.

Burstyn gives a powerful performance as the matured MacNeil, who knows all too well the darkness that can infect innocent souls.

'You will have no choice but to listen, and no choice but to be scared,' critic Leigh Paatsch wrote in a review.

With a budget of $30 million, Green brings a gritty, unsettling atmosphere that calls back to the disturbing power of the original.

The movie is set to release in cinemas on October 6, 2023.

So, if you need a good scare, The Exorcist: Believer could be your perfect choice. Nearly 50 years later, this worthy addition may be the sequel fans of the original have been waiting for.

Horror fans looking for other frightening fall films can check out Saw X, the latest entry in the long-running torture franchise.

Despite low expectations, reviewer Leigh Paatsch praised it as 'actually the best of the lot' for returning to Jigsaw's early crimes.

But if scary movies aren’t your thing, consider The Ringleader: The Case of the Bling Ring, a documentary about real-life celebrity home burglaries which provides an interesting true crime aspect, streaming on Binge and Foxtel.

Key Takeaways

I've got heaps of horror movies in my collection which are plain indescribable. All uncut. And downloaded when you could download anything for nothing.
I was looking up best and worst movies over the years last night. I forgot about the saw movies, Halloween etc.some of them were so horribly frightening and gory in the day.i didn’t realise there were so many clown movies made. It was really interesting.🙀

NO FREAKING THANKS!!!!!
I will NOT be watching that at all - I have never seen past the first few minutes of the original and that was enough! I like TAME HORROR & FUNNY HORROR. I have seen things of horror, lived in a haunted house and had a evil grandmother and psycho biological father so i don't need the horror movies.

As for the Ringleader - I saw a movie on that a few years ago and that was boring enough!
I'd rather a good disaster movie.
Give me a good western anytime especially with John Wayne,Clint Eastwood, yul Brynner😁
