Today’s blast from the past is sure to bring back sweet memories! Warm, soft, and comforting—the good old jam doughnuts seemed to possess the magical ability to turn even the worst day at school around. Unfortunately, several Aussies claim these are quite hard to find nowadays.

When l was young, going to the South Melbourne market with shopping, always bought hot jam donuts they were the best. I can taste them now.

I was devastated when I found out they're not really filled with jam! Coloured & flavoured apple sauce is used because of its consistency!

I recall trying jam donuts at Vic markets during a holiday in Melb in 2013, where I met my new found cousins through family tree research. Delicious!

When he was young, my husband had a Saturday job at the village bakery. One day he was asked to fill the doughnuts with jam. I think he must have overfilled them as he was never asked to do it again.

Used to love going to the MCG to watch the footy on a Saturday arvo and before entering the ground had to stop at the donut van to get those delicious hot jam filled donuts....taste even better on a cold Victorian winters day sitting in the stands of the 'G'.

Coles sells bags of 6 mini jam donuts. I sometimes buy a bag, if I can get them as they sell out quickly. I like them cold or warmed up just a tad in the microwave.

Jam donuts are yum but my all time favourite at school was a vanilla slice. Unfortunately they don't taste the same anymore
