A Breakthrough for Blood Pressure Patients​

A new drug trial is offering hope to people with stubbornly high blood pressure.

Baxdrostat, tested on around 1,000 patients, significantly lowered blood pressure in nearly half after just 12 weeks.

The trial, led by University College London, targeted patients who didn’t respond to existing medicines. Researchers say the findings could cut the risk of heart attack, stroke, heart failure and kidney disease.

Professor Bryan Williams called the results ‘exciting’ and potentially life-saving.

A New Home for Sydney’s Oysters​

Researchers at UNSW have 3D-printed artificial reef structures to help oyster populations bounce back in Sydney.

They call it a solution to the ‘housing crisis’ of sea life, creating habitats that mimic natural reefs. Oysters are vital to marine ecosystems, filtering up to 100 litres of water daily.

The structures are cleverly made from recycled plastic and weighed down with cement mixed with leftover oyster shells from the fish market.

These mini reefs don’t just help oysters. They’re also a safe haven for fish, seaweed, kelp and more.
