Christmas has come early for motorists and holiday-goers across the country as petrol prices drop ahead of the festivities after record-breaking prices hikes.

Price cycles are working "in our favour for once", says NRMA spokesperson Peter Khoury who also advised motorists to use price-checker apps to find the cheapest petrol stations near them.
Mr Khoury said: “Those large capital cities that have price cycles, it just so happens that this holiday season the prices are falling in the middle of the cycle rather than going up."
“The second bit of good news is that oil prices globally have been steadily falling now since October."
“We are very slowly starting to see that trickle down here in Australia and at local bowsers.”
