Golden Fleece

Who remembers going on road trips and stopping by Golden Fleece? Their service stations and roadhouses were a popular stop over for those driving long distances during the ‘50s up to the ‘70s. For many, seeing that bold signage from a distance drew excitement and transformed travels into unforgettable memories. Got any stories about Golden Fleece? Share them here.

YEs I remember they made a road trip memorable and as a kid I was given the privilege of bacon and eggs for breakfast by my parents this was a wonderful memory and I felt so grown up even if I was still in my pjs and dressing gown the golden fleece was the point of change into going out clothes.

Yes certainly remember the Golden Fleece petrol stations in the '50's onwards until they closed down....along with Ampol, Amoco as well.......all with full driveway service and some with garage service attached as well.....we had an Amoco station just one house away on the corner of our street...remember they fitted a couple of Televisions out on the driveway so you could watch the Melbourne Olympics on in 1956. I was only 4 and a half then but was in awe of the televisions.:unsure:;)
