Get your piece of rock history with AC/DC's Bon Scott on this new must-have coin!

Rock 'n' roll enthusiasts and coin collectors, take note!

The legendary AC/DC frontman Bon Scott has been enshrined in a new collectable coin, a tribute that resonates with the spirit of rock music and the indelible mark Scott left on the industry.

More than four decades after his untimely passing, the Perth Mint has honoured the Australian rock icon with a stunning 1oz 99.99 per cent silver proof coin.

This isn't just a piece of currency; it's a piece of history, a tangible connection to the raw energy and charisma that Bon Scott brought to the stage.

The coin's design, crafted by Wade Robinson, captured the essence of Scott's stage presence.

It features the rock star in his element: shirtless, donning a denim jacket with cut-off sleeves, and gripping a microphone.

In a nod to Scott's Scottish roots, his name is proudly inscribed on the coin, with the Lion Rampant—a symbol of Scotland—overlaying it.

This thoughtful detail adds a personal touch, celebrating not just the artist but the man behind the music.

The emotional weight of this tribute was not lost on Scott's brother, Derek Scott, and his family, who had the opportunity to witness the coin's creation at the Perth Mint's secure coining division.

Derek remarked that Bon would have been 'rapt' with the coin.

‘For somebody who never had two coins to rub together, the fact he’s actually got his image on a silver coin is unbelievable,’ he said.

Neil Vance, the Perth Mint’s General Manager of Minted Products, expressed the honour of producing a Bon Scott coin, especially given Scott's formative years spent growing up in Perth and Fremantle.

‘There aren’t too many Australian rock stars as influential as Bon Scott was in his all too short life,’ Vance said.

‘He was a pioneering figure in the Aussie music scene, and we feel very privileged to have the support of the Scott family in maintaining his legacy here at the Perth Mint.’

For those eager to own this piece of rock history, the coin is available for purchase at $149, both in-store and online, from the Perth Mint, with only 5,000 coins minted.

Perth Mint is also celebrating more than a hundred years of rich history and exceptional craftsmanship.

In honour of its 125th anniversary, Perth Mint crafted a collection featuring two pure gold coins, two pure silver coins, and one pure platinum coin. You can read more details about the coins here.

Wow....just wow to the two previous comments!

Not to be outdone, my residential address is the Canning Highway, which is the inspiration for the song "Highway To Hell".

The highway is on the left, heading towards the Perth CBD.

I will post a pic of the Raffles Hotel, which is 200 metres from here, when the sun is higher in the sky. One of Bon Scott's favourite watering holes!

First time I saw them was in Broadmeadows in a dumpy run down hall with my workmates we were about 16. They were ace, then in st kilda at the palais theatre
fun days so long ago but I can still picture them.😊

You lucky ducks living in such a beautiful spot. How are you enjoying living in Perth veggiepatch? Have you been to Kings Park which is one of my favourite spots to go & watch the world go by. I didn’t know that Highway to Hell was inspired by Canning Highway. You learn something new everyday.

Strangely enough, we are going to the Perth CBD today so Debra will show me Kings Park.

And we can see Kings Park from our balcony....across the river!

Guess what? I am absolutely adoring Perth! Week 3 today!

I’m rather envious. I tried to convince my husband that we needed to move to Perth but he hates the heat so I’m making him endure his 75th birthday & Christmas with our son who lives there.

As much as I love Bon Scott I do not have $149 to purchase the coin. I was lucky to meet Bon when I was in high school when I went into our local newsagent after school to get my teen magazines (which one of his family members owned) I bumped into him by accident and I was introduced to him. To say a girl from a private catholic high school meeting a rock musician was awesome. I won't share what he said they are my memories. I saw him again when I was older and he still remembered me. We chatted again and he was just like an old friend.... of course I'm from Western Australia and lived not far from where they lived..

It does so I spend most of winter complaining about how cold it is. I thoroughly enjoyed our last summer but then it seemed to get cold very quickly. Thank goodness I don’t live at Liawenee, they’ve already had a -8 one night. We actually live in Launceston.
