Many of us like getting creative in the kitchen and experimenting with new recipes or cuisines.
So, if you find yourself in need of some new cooking gear, then you need to keep your eyes peeled this week because ALDI is giving customers a second chance to get their hands on one of its most popular items before it's gone for good!
The Electric Hot Pot and Grill was a big hit with shoppers when it was first released in 2020, with many frantically searching from store to store to snag one.
Luckily, the item is making a return to ALDI’s store shelves on January 18 with a $68.88 price tag – $10 more than its previous price.
Aussies across various social media platforms expressed their excitement at the return of the kitchen appliance, and many said they were keen to get their hands on one to cook homemade Korean barbecue.
Korean barbecue is a popular cooking method in Korean cuisine where you cook meat (usually beef, pork or chicken) over gas or charcoal grills.
According to ALDI’s product description, the electric grill is a two-in-one multifunctional design: it’s an 800W grill and 1,200W hotpot combined. There’s a removable drip tray and stainless-steel hot pot bowl for easy cleaning and has a non-stick coated cooking surface.
One person who bought their electric grill in 2020 said it was one of their ‘best buys’. ‘I love mine,’ they added.
Another shared they had one in their caravan that’s ready to use when they travel.
‘I feel like you should invest in one of these,’ someone else stated while tagging their friends in the comments section.
Other items being dropped as part of the sale are a rice cooker, wok, premium wok utensils, a cast iron enamel grill plate, an assortment of New Bone China serving ware, and a New Bone China ‘tea for one’ set.
A spokesperson for ALDI revealed that the item is being released as part of the supermarket giant’s collection for the Lunar New Year.
‘We are excited to bring back our range of food and kitchen essentials to help Australians cook up delicious meals to celebrate Lunar New Year,’ they explained.
Also called Spring Festival, Lunar New Year is one of the biggest celebrations in the world. And as with any festival, you’ll find a lot of dishes being served during this time of year. In Chinese tradition, each dish has a special meaning – some are believed to bring wealth, good luck, or can strengthen the bonds of a family.
Noodles are one such dish (you can also find this in everyday Chinese cuisine and during birthdays as well) said to bring a long life. The longer the noodle, the longer your life (supposedly).
Dumplings are also believed as a symbol of wealth and togetherness. In traditional Chinese culture, dumplings are made by hand by the whole family – making it a fun bonding activity. It’s said that the more dumplings you eat, the more wealth you’ll have in the new year. While these are, of course, just beliefs and traditions, there’s no harm in trying some of them this Lunar New Year!
