There's something about doughnuts that just makes us happy. Maybe it's the soft, fluffy texture, or the sweet, sugary flavour. Whatever the reason, we here at the SDC just can't get enough of these delicious treats!
One of the best things about doughnuts is that they can be eaten at any time of the day. Whether you're looking for a quick breakfast, a midday snack, or a dessert to end your meal, doughnuts are always a good option.
Pairing them with a cup of coffee or tea is also a great way to enjoy them. The sweetness of the doughnut helps to balance out the bitterness of the drink, not to mention the ‘dunkability factor.’ It's a perfect combination that we can't get enough of.
Whether you like them plain, glazed, or covered in sprinkles, there's no doubt that doughnuts are one of the best things in life. And luckily for us, there are plenty of places where we can get our fix!
Speaking of different types of doughnuts, did you know that Krispy Kreme has recently collaborated with Reese's to create epic doughnut flavours?
You read that right, folks! The doughnut giant and the popular chocolate brand have teamed up to bring three new decadent doughnut flavours to life.
Two of the new creations, Peanut Butter & Choc and Peanut Butter Cheesecake, will be available in select stores beginning Tuesday.
Additionally, the Peanut Butter Choc Brownie will be available at 7-Eleven outlets starting October 4.
The new flavours will only be available for a limited time. Credit: Krispy Kreme.
The doughnuts will retail for $3.90 apiece or $29.90 for a box of 12 and will only be available for a limited time.
Krispy Kreme marketing director Olivia Sutherland said that the company is excited to bring these new flavours to the market.
She remarked: 'We know our fans will go absolutely nuts over this collaboration - it’s the perfect combination of a creamy peanut butter and fluffy doughnuts.'
Reese's associate marketing manager Joeven Perez believes that Australians will 'love' the new epic flavours.
'Your taste buds will thank us for this peanut buttery goodness!' she exclaimed.
We are definitely looking forward to trying these new flavours! How about you? Will you give these treats a go?
While it's unfortunate that these goodies will only be available for a limited time, we're delighted to share this 'copycat' recipe with you so you can whip up a batch whenever you want! (After all, it wouldn't be an SDC article if we don't share some useful tips )

Copycat Reese's Doughnut Recipe
INGREDIENTS:
Doughnut
3 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
2 1/2 tsp Active dry yeast
1 cup of milk (lukewarm)
2 tbsp Unsalted butter (melted)
3 Egg yolks
1/2 tsp Granulated sugar
1 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp salt
Vanilla extract
Vegetable oil
Peanut butter frosting and peanut butter drizzle
1 cup of creamy peanut butter
2tbsp Unsalted butter softened
Powdered sugar (can be adjusted)
1 cup of milk
Chocolate glaze and toppings
Semi-sweet chocolate chips
1 cup of heavy cream
Reese’s peanut butter chips
Crushed peanuts
METHOD:
1. Stir together the warm milk, sugar, and yeast in a mixing dish to dissolve the yeast. Allow the mixture to sit for 5 to 10 minutes, or until frothy. If the mixture does not foam, the yeast may be dead. You'll need a new packet, milk, and sugar if that’s the case.
2. Once the yeast is ready, add it in a large mixing bowl along with the flour, salt, baking powder, egg yolks, melted butter, vanilla extract, and remaining sugar.
3. Stir until combined, then knead for 5 minutes on low-medium speed with your stand mixer. (You can knead it by hand using a kneading hook for around 10 minutes or until smooth if you don't have a stand mixer)
4. After kneading the dough, cover it with plastic wrap and set it aside in a warm, draft-free place to rise for about 1 hour, or until it has almost doubled in size.
5. While the dough is rising, cut out 10 squares of parchment paper.
6. Once the dough is ready, punch it down and roll it out onto a floured board into a 1/2-inch thick sheet. Cut out the doughnuts with a circular cutter and set them on the prepared parchment paper squares. Cover loosely with plastic wrap and set aside for 40 minutes, or until doubled in size.
7. In a pot, heat 2 inches of oil to 165 to 180 C. Drop 2 to 3 doughnuts at a time and cook until golden brown on one side before flipping to the other.
8. When all sides are golden brown, carefully remove the doughnuts from the oil with a spider tool or slotted spoon and set them on a plate lined with paper towels. Repeat until all of the doughnuts are done.
9. To make the peanut butter filling, combine the butter and peanut butter in a large mixing bowl and mix on medium until everything is combined.
10. Mix in the powdered sugar and milk until they are combined. Turn the mixer to high and beat for 1 minute, or until the mixture is light and fluffy.
11. In a medium-sized mixing bowl, combine the powdered sugar and milk to form the peanut butter drizzle. Then whisk in the peanut butter until smooth. Once ready, transfer the drizzle to a ziplock or piping bag.
12. In a microwave-safe bowl, combine the heavy cream and chocolate chips to make the chocolate glaze. Microwave in 30-second increments, stirring after each, until smooth.
13. Dip each doughnut into the glaze. Allow the glaze to set for about 5 minutes before adding Reese's Mini Peanut Butter Chips and broken peanuts to the top.
14. Transfer the leftover chocolate glaze to a ziplock or piping bag. Top each doughnut with peanut butter drizzle and chocolate glaze. Serve.
