G'day, our lovely members! How are you doing today?

Last night, I came across a delightful little quote by the ever-charming Audrey Hepburn:

‘To plant a garden is to believe in tomorrow.’

Isn’t that just lovely? It got me thinking—not just about gardens, but about all the little things we ‘plant’ in our lives. Kindness, friendship, laughter, and love—these are the seeds that help make the world a brighter, happier place. Sometimes, even the smallest actions, like a warm smile, a kind word, or a shared laugh, can grow into something truly meaningful.

So, what’s something you’ve ‘planted’ lately that makes your days a little brighter? Let us know in the comments below! We’d love to hear your thoughts.

I recently made use of an old firepit again. The lid and the base gives me two bowls to plant my annuals in...gives me something different as a raised ornamental flower bed & it's recycling.

We recently dug up carrots and potatoes which we had planted.
We also picked beans, tomatoes, cucumbers, spring onions and capsicums.
What mostly made us feel wonderful was to look out our door and see colourful Marigolds growing in among the veggies as companion plants. Beautiful.🙂

I planted 4 apple cucumber plants last spring. Two died for reasons unknown. Two grew well and have produced extremely well. They are nearing the end of life period. I hate the taste, but my wife and her sister love them if they are young and tender as did their mother who unfortunately departed this world last year. The 'Brownie' points have been well worth getting. Some years they seem to do far better than others.

Talkin about Tomato's, just finished making 110 Bottles of Sauce from locally sourced Toms. A sprig of Home grown Basil went into every Bottle with some receiving a Home grown Chilli. My lovely Lady Wife fries off some Osso Bucco to caramelize then in goes the Sauce for a slow simmer. Result a VERY flavorsome Spaghetti Meal. Crusty Bread, Garden Salad and glass of Wine. Paradise on a plate.

I cut all the ends of spring onions and leeks. Plant roots down in soil. Water and now I have an ongoing free supply..
I do that as well. Also did it with base of celery plant. I was able to use some stems and leaves before it went to seed.

Don't have much luck with flowers, reasonable with vegies but steam ahead with herbs and lettuce, mint, coriander ,rosemary, lavender( kind of flowerish) thyme, sage etc. Cos,iceberg, oak, and some success with rocket and watercress, latter grows well around my drainage pipes and ditch , lots of moisture, use to pick it wild from the dirt run-off gutters outside dorrigo golf club( clean thourally) friend use to use it in rstaurant. Some radishes and cucumbers. Chillies grow well in my clayish soil, and strawberrys in their pot on veranda.

Just planted a herb garden in an old wheelbarrow tray. Love planting sprouted sweet potato and ordinary spuds in grow bags. Growing really well. Had a great crop of beetroot grown in a cardboard box. Great silverbeet grown in a suitcase destined for the tip. Second crop coming along nicely.
