Welcome, members, to today's General Discussion Thread, where we talk about anything under the sun.

Now, this one is for all the sandwich lovers out there—it's time to talk food! 🥪

I just came across this amazing video showcasing the best sandwiches from around the world—it's seriously making me crave a bite of everything! 😋

But here’s the thing—I wanna know YOUR favourite sandwich. Is it a classic Aussie Vegemite toastie, a crispy chicken number, or something else?

Drop your go-to sandwich below, and let's see who has the most delicious pick! 🔥👇

My favourite sandwich is fresh white bread buttered (must be butter) with a slice of Jarlsberg cheese, crisp lettuce leaf, thinly sliced tomato - enough to cover the lettuce leaf, freshly cracked black pepper, sliced red onion - enough to cover the tomato and pepper, and 2 or 3 slices of smoked leg ham off the bone. Put the other slice of bread on top and cut into 2 triangles ready for consumption! My mouth is watering as I think of it. Ingredients are all very simple but must be fresh and you will have a meal fit for a King! Enjoy!!

Home grown tomatoes [shop ones have skin like leather] and cheddar cheese

I'm with you, I love an egg and lettuce sandwich, that's my go to sandwich everytime. Even when I was in hospital I would make a note on the paper they gave you to mark off your meals I would cross the sandwiches out and put egg and lettuce, they were divine.
That’s my favourite too. I like a sprinkling of grated cheese as well. One of my friends makes the best tomato & onion sandwiches. The rest of us have tried but they’re never the same as hers.

I loved the hospital sandwiches so much I always asked for seconds and got them but then again in saying that I loved the hospital food., I ate everything I would have 👅 the plate if I could have🤣Oh except for the cups of tea they were like drinking dishwater yuk.🤣
I was stuck there for 2 months so I put on a lot of weight oink oink 🐷

I never have the tea in hospital, my partner did when he was in there for a month, he got me to bring in his tea bags and the raw sugar we use, they sell them in sticks so it was perfect for him.
I was converted to raw sugar years ago at a friends house, I never went back to white sugar again, the taste is completely different and better.

I loved the hospital food too, their desserts were delicious, but I was the opposite, I lost 26 kilos but iv'e put some back on since coming out due to my chocolate and cake addictions 😂

I only use raw sugar in my coffee and cooking no sugar in tea.
I was skinny as a rake because I was drinking too much and not eating that’s how I broke my hip I fell out of bed drunk bad me.
So it did me the world of good being in hospital for so long as I detoxed as well as having alcohol and food counselling, mental health people meetings etc.it was also during covid lockdown so I was in isolation cos I wasn’t vaccinated very boring no visitors allowed. Boy did I miss my littleboy 🐱 haven’t had a drink since.i’m patting myself on the back 🤣

Well done, I stopped drinking on the 1st of January around 1am in 2003, not had a drop since, nor will I ever. I was a heavy drinker before that but felt so much better when I gave up and my partner gave up in 2005, saved us a fortune.

Not my last visit to hospital a few weeks ago but the one before apparently I was next to a patient who's visitor had Covid so they had to rush me to a private room and they had to wear those horrible green plastic garments and masks when anyone came into my room, I was devastated and cried all night on the first night, after that I loved it. Some of the staff didn't bother with the suits after a while because they didn't believe I caught it.
It was pretty stupid because there were 2 other woman in the ward who actually went and helped the patient, I went no where near her and always had the curtain closed. She was a funny old bird, always calling the nurses at the top of her voice, once when they didn't come she rang an ambulance to come to our ward 😂

Fair dinkum now that’s funny 😁
2003 and 2005 wow that’s fantastic for you both. I sometimes think I’d like a drink when I see booze ads on tv, but then my brain goes into a mode where I can actually smell vodka and puke and then my leg hurts weird hey. Maybe they brainwashed me in hospital beacause I can’t remember being there for so long it’s only because my sis told me. 😊

How awful for you and how inconsiderate of the person with Covid

I'm the same, I can't bare the smell of it, it make me want to puck as well, which is a good thing.
I had to have a blood test on my birthday a couple of years ago and the lady doing it noticed and said I should have a drink to celebrate, I said I don't drink, and she said a small wine wouldn't hurt. It's so hard to get through to people when I say I don't drink I mean I DON'T drink full stop!

My neighbour when he first moved in asked if I wanted to go to the pub for a drink, I said I don’t drink alcohol anymore and so he goes, that’s okay well go for a coffee then. How sweet was that so we did and I told him why.😊but turned out he’s gay 🤣bummer.
