General Discussion Thread 15.05.2024

G’day, members! I hope you’re all having a lovely day so far. 😄

Got something on your mind? The General Discussion thread is the perfect place for a good old chat. Share a funny story, ask a question, or just pop in to say hello—whatever’s on your mind, we’re all ears. No need to be shy—we’re all here for a friendly natter!

This morning, I found myself dipping a slice of milk loaf into my coffee—something my mum always did when I was growing up. At the time, I thought it was a bit strange… now here I am doing the exact same thing, and loving it! Funny how those little habits stick with us, isn’t it?

Maybe there’s something to the idea that we’re a collage of the people we love. I like my eggs like my dad, I laugh out loud like my grandpa, and catch myself using phrases from an old friend. Without even realising it, we carry little pieces of them with us—and somehow, they help make us whole.

So what about you? What’s a habit (quirky or not!) that you’ve picked up from someone you love? Share it in the comments—we’d love to hear your story!

Never dunked bread in coffee but also have never heard of Milk Bread? Is it just a 'different name different State' thing for standard white bread? Maybe someone can enlighten me.🤔

Even different nationalities have different habits.
My husband was Italian and they had been very poor when he was young.
He had this annoying habit of always leaving something on his plate after a meal.
When I queried why he did this he said his mother told them not to look like a greedy pig and always leave a little.
How strange, he said they were always hungry when they were kids???
On the other hand I was taught to eat what was put in front of me.

It's like white bread but fluffier! A friend of mine went to Japan recently and generously gave me a loaf 😄
