I think "Taking Chance" would be my favourite movie.
I've watched it countless times and it's brilliant.
The Notebook

Calamity Jane. And. Across the Universe

My choice would be Best little Whore house in Texas. I love that movie and if I'm doing my ironing I put it on.

"Imitation of Life" is my ALLTIME favourite as it teaches us a deep heartening lesson no matter who we are or where we come from. I have a copy of the original (forgotten what year it was made somewhere in the 1930's) also copy of the remake (also forgotten when it was made somewhere in the 1950's I think).

It's about 1 white mother and her little daughter and a negro woman and her little daughter. They met on a beach with the 2 little girls playing together on the sand. The mothers got taking and the negro woman mentioned that she had no where to live, so the white woman took them both in. As the girls grew up the white girl made plenty of friends and going out a lot with her college friends while the negro girl never made friends so well. In time the negro girl because of her lighter skin tone decided to take herself off a tanned white girl and it changed her life, but not so much for the better as she finished up working the bars. Nearing the end when the negro mother passed away her daughter didn't want to be known as her daughter and didn't want to go to her mothers funeral. In the end it got the better of the negro daughter and she went to her mothers funeral procession.
The last scene of the movie is where the negro daughter is hanging on the back of the horse drawn hearse of her mother and banging on the back doors crying out 'I'm sorry mama, I'm sorry mama".

This is a very heartfelt movie and tells us ALL that we ALL do have a mother who gave birth and life to us.

The Court Jester
Love it! One of the funniest films ever. Danny Kaye at his most glorious. “ . . . the first step of all is to stand, and stand, and stand . . .” Great stuff.

I still love “In Name Only,” an early film of Cary Grant.
