General Discussion Thread 01.11.2024

Welcome to the General Discussion Thread, where you can share about anything under the sun! Now, for today's burning question:

Would you rather speak 10 languages or play 10 instruments?

Honestly, it's quite difficult for me to choose because I love learning new languages (I learned Spanish, Italian, and Latin!) and playing instruments (I sing and I play the violin, guitar, ukulele, and a little bit of piano). How about you, what would you choose? Let's get the discussion rolling below! :D

I would love to play 10 instruments

I remember in my teens just sitting for hours playing my guitar 🎸

Two of my five sons play guitar as well as one of my son inlaws.

One daughter plays violin 🎻.

My eight year old granddaughter plays the piano beautifully, she has been playing since she was 3.

I love it when they are here and decide to have a jam session and everyone jumps in singing.

10 Instruments.

Languages. Would be great to be able to easily communicate with foreigners. Also, I wouldn’t need to put the subtitles on when watching foreign language movies!

I speak English, but understand Italian, not very good at conversing, in Italian.

I just can't chose - maybe if I could, five instruments and five languages - best of both worlds!

Give me the instruments! Music is a universal language in itself.

Don't get me wrong - ten languages would be awesome, but number 11 - music - is more portable.

Languages definitely. Would be able to communicate with many more people in my community.

Definitely instruments! My voice is my main instrument but I play the guitar & attempted the piano but would love to have the gift of being a multi talented muso!

Both! I love music and can play piano and guitar, but have always wanted to learn many more.
I also love languages, and used to speak a tiny bit of French and German in High School (1970's).

10 instruments. Tried speaking other languages. Can sing them but not speak them very well

Getting off topic….Led Zepplin first album in 1969! ? I wonder when our generation is gone will the younger ones listen to the classics? At my work the young ones aren’t interested in anything older than 20 years. Cars, bands, etc. it’s fair enough but the way it goes! How lucky we were to grow up in the 70’s and 80’s….

Languages for sure - can speak 5 (at different levels) and understand 7.
5 to go!
