Furious mum discovers mysterious 'yellow' mark in her kitchen that's baffling everyone!

We all know how frustrating it can be to spend a considerable amount of time and money on renovations, only for a small accident to occur shortly after.

One Queensland mum discovered this first-hand when her brand new kitchen counters, which she had just spent an 'arm and a leg' on, were supposedly stained yellow by her teenage daughter.

Interestingly, though, when she shared photos of the alleged mark, people were left scratching their heads, with many claiming they couldn't see the stain at all. Let's explore this great kitchen mystery further, shall we?

Alexandra, the mum in question, had recently renovated her kitchen for the first time in 19 years. Understandably, she was quite protective of her fresh new investment, which included beautiful white satin cutlery drawers.

However, she was left feeling a mixture of anger and annoyance when her 16-year-old daughter accidentally stained those very drawers with carrots after grating the vegetable while cooking dinner for the family. Or so she thought.

The mum shared her outrage on social media and asked for advice on removing the yellow stain from her precious new cupboards, only to receive a wave of confusion in return.

'Is this woman taking the p***?' a perplexed commenter asked after viewing the photos of the supposedly 'ruined' kitchen.

While Alexandra reiterated the story of her daughter's mishap—grating the carrots and unwittingly leaving handprints on their white satin drawer—much of the online community remained mystified.

'Where is the stain? Am I blind?' questioned one individual.

'I've literally got perfect vision and can't see any stain,' added another.

Despite being invisible to many, a handful of sympathisers offered suggestions for removing the stubborn remnant from the pristine white surface.

'It will fade,' one mum reassured her. 'My kids have spilt red cordials, and it sits for a while, but then after a few regular cleans, it just ends up fading away.'

Another helpful soul suggested using kitchen spray (like Ajax) and allowing it to sit for 10 minutes before wiping it off. They claimed this method had succeeded for them with carrots and capsicums.

'When my 2pac kitchen went in, the kitchen company told me to use car polish because it retains the sheen,' divulged a fellow kitchen renovator.

Key Takeaways

  • A Queensland mum was furious after her teenage daughter accidentally stained her brand-new kitchen counters yellow with a carrot.
  • Photos of the incident left much to the imagination, as hundreds of people couldn't see the stain at all.
  • The mum admitted that while she thought the stain was faint, she still wanted it removed and sought advice on how to clean a lacquered surface.
  • Some commenters provided suggestions, such as using car polish to retain the sheen or letting the stain fade naturally with regular cleaning.

So, there you have it, folks—a mysterious kitchen mark that continues to leave people perplexed. It's up to you to decide whether or not the carrot's 'yellow fingerprints' truly marred Alexandra's new kitchen.

Couldn't see the stain but as a chef in another lifetime, I know carrots are notorious for orangey/yellowy stains but they do fade with cleaning. Your skin will turn orange as well if you drink too much carrot juice.

Gumpton is my go to for every stain an gets off most everything

Counters are for shops and banks. Americans use the term for all bench- or work-tops including in the "bathroom". What are you going to count? It's the same as the use of backsplash instead of splashback. Let's not succumb to the ignorant!

I have been on this earth for 80+ years & have always known counter tops in the kitchen. Benches are what my father had for cutting things like wood & metal on or making toys for us when we were kids. So there!!

I just thought I share to all here, that when opening my Edge Browser just now, there was a Gumption Advertisement on the top right hand corner under "Shopping" .... Big Brother in action yet again, it may explain the many pop-ups we see when in discussion about specific topics and products. :(

Really? That's what you had to say?

Thank you.
