Four women speak out in chilling lawsuit against legendary performer

Fame and legacy often come with adoration—but sometimes, they also attract deeply unsettling claims.

A recent legal filing involving a beloved music icon has sent shockwaves through the entertainment world.

What unfolds is a disturbing narrative that spans years and raises serious questions about power, accountability, and silence.

A bombshell lawsuit has accused legendary singer Smokey Robinson of rape, sexual battery, and false imprisonment, with claims spanning nearly two decades.

Four former housekeepers filed the 27-page legal document in California Superior Court, alleging that Robinson repeatedly targeted them for abuse at his Chatsworth mansion between 2007 and 2024.

His wife, Frances Robinson, was also named in the suit, accused of allowing a hostile work environment to continue despite reportedly knowing of her husband’s conduct.

The plaintiffs, all referred to as Jane Doe, are seeking at least $50 million in damages for each of the 11 serious allegations outlined in the lawsuit.

The legal complaint stated Robinson would direct the women to areas of the home without surveillance, including his bedroom, where he allegedly placed a towel on the bed before assaulting them.

One woman said the singer raped her ‘without a condom’ at least 23 times and claimed he ‘enjoyed ejaculating all over (her) face’.

She alleged Robinson threatened her with retaliation, saying his wife would be ‘mean’ to her if she refused to comply.

Frances was further accused of exacerbating the toxic environment by verbally abusing the plaintiff and allegedly using ‘ethnically pejorative words and language’.

Another former housekeeper claimed Robinson assaulted her at least seven times between January 2023 and February 2024, forcing her to resign.

She described a pattern where Robinson would take his wife to a nail salon each Saturday and return home to be alone with her.

According to the lawsuit, he would call her to his ‘blue bedroom’, send the dog Shilo away, lock the door, and then attack her.

She said she attempted to resist but was unable to stop the alleged assaults.

In one confrontation, she reportedly shouted ‘you’re married’, but claimed the singer ‘casually ignored’ her pleas.

The same woman also accused both Robinson and his wife of violating wage laws by failing to pay minimum wage or overtime.

A third plaintiff alleged she was raped by Robinson around 20 times from 2012 to 2024 and once offered $500 for oral sex.

The lawsuit stated Frances Robinson was fully aware of her husband’s previous misconduct, allegedly having settled similar claims with other women.

The fourth woman said she too was assaulted repeatedly while working in the house between 2007 and 2024, alleging Robinson never used protection.

Among the claims listed in the lawsuit were negligence, assault, sexual battery, false imprisonment, gender violence, emotional distress, and failure to pay lawful wages.

The legal action came shortly after Robinson released his latest album What The World Needs Now on 25 April.

During a media appearance, he shared: ‘I want people to be inspired to care about each other and to love each other.’

He added: ‘(One) who recognised the fact that you don’t get any bigger than being a human being. I don’t care what your craft is, or what you do for your living and all that... So, I hope that that’s my legacy.’

The 85-year-old is currently touring to mark the 50th anniversary of his iconic album A Quiet Storm, with a performance scheduled just hours after the press conference in Huntington, New York.

Robinson has not publicly addressed the lawsuit, and his company did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

The incident left the victim and her family devastated, highlighting the dangers some vulnerable Australians face.

Exactly my thoughts.
Being assaulted once would be1 times too many…

Why did they stay and let him assault them, and rape them, as many times as they claim he did?

I think they are making mountains out of molehills. And of course, the money !!
Maybe they flirted with him?

Did any of them report their assaults & rapes to the Police?

I can understand coming out this late to report it but who would go back after it happened once but 27 times !!!

They are definitely after money now.

I believe this did happen and shows what kind of man he was , but rape 😳 I don't think so, and the women will definitely be asked Why Did they go back after the first time.

I generally always believe a woman who claims she was raped, but why would you continue to return knowing what was going to happen? Maybe they were immigrants who were scared to report him to police, or were worried that they might not get employed anywhere else. It’s an appalling story if it’s proved to be true.

Seems absolute nonsense to me....unless as stated above that they were perhaps illegal immigrants with no one to help them....maybe. Non the less if he is found guilty through a good legal team then he deserves jail time and a huge compensation payment to be made to the women involved.

It will be a money thing, if he had no money no-one would complain. Same as Rolf Harris, Bill Cosby, people go out of there way to destroy these people to get money, Prince Andrew is another one....money money money, anyone of us can put up a good enough case if you flutter your eye lashes and cry tears of money and get a good no win no pay solicitor. There should be a time limit on these bullshit claims. Why are they always 40 years or more after the alleged event....had no money 40 years ago but they have a bunch of money now let's gets some girls...

If proved guilty should he be accorded the right to move forward?. Sexual abuse is not about sex it’s about power and we don’t know the power that was forced upon the victims, or what they were possibly threatened with. It’s easy to comment that one wouldn’t stay for more than one assault, but that is not a comment response from anyone who has experienced assault. And, before you ask, I was a victim of abuse over an eight year period and I still relive some of these episodes.

Those of us who have never experienced any type of abuse can’t possibly understand can we? I’m sad that you have suffered so much & I suppose reading about others being abused causes those feelings to resurface.

If you were a female employee, why would you return many times over ?

A bit scary if it's true.

I suppose it will all come out in the wash.
I read employees/ housekeepers. Were they 'illegals' and therefore trapped in this terrible situation? I'll wait till the end of the court case(s) to hear the complete stories.

The claims range from 18 years ago to last year. I can't see where you've got the 40 years from. His hits began 65 years ago, he was vice-president of Motown in the 90s. so he's 67 to 84 yrs old in the claim period. It'll be interesting but I expect he'll be outed like Cosby, Harris and Randy Andy.

riskydave, I know of a woman who waited 48 years before feeling sufficiently safe to have an alleged abuser charged with a significant amount of sexual assault, over a number of years. In having charges laid it caused a significant fracture in the family unit. What did I do achieve in taking this action? I left him with a guilty conviction and he has his name on the sex offenders register and I was vindicated. Not all activities have a $ amount attached.

The biggest issue is a loss of trust, and that is something that can never be measured, victims just need to know that they are supported. That is my role now if I were to hear of someone who requires support, and someone they can trust.

sounds like a heap of garbage to me.
why on earth would someone hang around to be abused so many times over so many years?
Have you ever stopped to Think.
