Flit Spray Can

Do you remember using this insect spray? If so, I salute you for enduring the smell. It wasn’t the best, but it kept many Summer nights free from mozzie bites, and those pesky house flies. Did you expertly shoo insects away with the Flit Spray Can? Share your stories here.

I remember going on a picnic to Wattamolla in the National Park south of Sydney. It was a lovely spot but the flies liked it too and after cooking the barbeque Dad started spraying the pesky little critters with a fly spray like this one. I'm not sure how much fly spray he had with his lunch but Mum and the three kids gave up and sat in the car to get away from the flies!

We used a something like that but it was a tin and it had to be pumped up 100 time to release a vapour. We filled it up with disinfected and water to spray round the nursery before we changed the childrens and baby nappies. The smell was so bad it had me retching on my first day there. The children were mongoloids some with brain disorders and one 6 year old David with Hydrocephalus. Poor David his head was so big but he was happy and could make singing noises. They hadn't come up with the idea of draining the water off his brain then and l heard he lived till he was 12.

I remember Mum coming into the bedroom at night after we had complained about the mozzies. As soon as she came in we would both duck under the covers so we couldn’t smell the spray. It was dreadful but at least it got rid of the mozzies and flies. I still can’t stand the buzz of a mozzie at night.
