First ever TV commercial

Did you know that the very first TV commercial ever aired on July 1, 1941? It was an ad for watches, and it began a new era in advertising.

Curious? Check it out here!

I have never seen that ad!

Can't say I have ever seen that ad before either.
Must be an interstate ad.
It's funny

I wish those companies advertising on Chanel 9 in the ad breaks would get some new ads. They play the same ones over and over again.

Those Telstra ones are driving me insane!

Guess they get their money from advertising the old stuff over and over and over again. I tend to switch off my brain when ads come on.

Me too.

todays ads are pathetic. all sex and more sex of one gender kissing etc. no humour in any. i now do not purchase any mccains or other such ads, i want something i can laugh with, as we did back years ago.

You are so right Jest. Do you remember the Nescafé ad from years ago? I think it told a story, in instalments, about a couple meeting over coffee, I can’t quite remember but I enjoyed that one. Ads drive me insane, I usually just tune out but some are overbearing.

thank you pattib.;)

The PG Tips Tea ads in the UK were the best! Seeing as we are in France for Olympics here is the Tour de France offering.

I did like the AAMI ads from some years ago. With Katut and Brenda, was it? They told a story.

They actually got married in real life :)

Anyone interested in the background to various advertising campaigns etc ... I'd recommend you watch "Gruen" on ABC or ABC Iview ... informative and funny.

The longest T.V. commercial by duration was 14 hours, produced by Procter & Gamble (Brazil), promoting Old Spice Deodorant, & aired in Sao Paulo, Brazil on 8th December, 2018.
