First day of school

Do you remember your first day at school? For most kids, it was quite a rollercoaster of emotions. Tears were flowing left and right because, let’s face it, for some, it was the first time they were left on their own, away from home, and away from their dear old mums. Kids trembled as they sat on tiny chairs, legs dangling, eagerly watching the new teacher get the classroom ready for action. What was your first day of school like?

I remember the days when teachers used to beat the hell out of us, I remember a friend of mine was called to the front of the class room and ms Parker gave a grade two a full slap across his face and sent him flying into all the tables and chairs. How’s that for remembering my school days.

I was so frightened that day, and too scared to ask to go to the toilet. Imagine what happened next.

I turned my milk upside down to get the last of it, but hadn't had much experience of straws and the milk ran down the side of the straw and spilled on my uniform. I got a smack from Sister Margaret for that.

My first day of school is still as clear in my memory as it was all those yrs ago. I was sitting with my parents outside the principals office when the teacher came and got me to show me where to put my bag and then I ran back to my parents and they were gone. They didn't even stay around long enough to say goodbye. Spent the rest of the day crying my eyes out totally believing that I had been abandoned and was never going to see them again.

On my first day of school, I travelled 25 miles by bus. Knew absolutely no one on the bus, sat next to a boy by the name of Vaughn. He planted a kiss on my lips, told me I was beautiful, how’s that for the first day of school. He had five older brothers on the bus, who were not impressed with his antics. We went through primary school together, but lost contact with each other once we commenced high school

I really don’t remember my first day as my parents had sent me to live with my grandma. So I had the separation from my parents early on. I was not allowed to leave the yard, when I went to school there lots of kids to play with & a playground. I think I cried more on the first day I took both of my children. By that time they had both done kindy. I was lucky to get a wave goodbye.

My first day of school was being driven by my father as mum had to stay home with all the younger kids. I just got dropped off with the teacher and left. My sister had already started school but this was also her first day at this school as we had moved. I remember crying a lot and being called a cry baby by the older kids. After school I had to walk 3 miles home with my sister and some neighbours kids, from then on I walked to and from school most days until I was in sixth class and the school had closed due to lack of pupils. We then went to school “in town”. No buses so some of the parents with cars got paid to drive us to and from school.

We seem to be getting alot of sniping coming from Sethia Soliman with a WOW, what’s her story and why hasn’t she replied to her school days, or is that a WOW too……Rick
