Fans are freaking out over what the Purple Wiggle and his wife did in their baby's nursery—see why it's causing such a stir!

Parenting decisions often spark a wide range of opinions, especially when shared online. It’s no surprise that something as personal as preparing for a new baby can quickly become the subject of debate.

In a recent post, a celebrity couple found themselves at the centre of a heated discussion after sharing a seemingly innocent moment from their journey to parenthood.

The Purple Wiggle, John Pearce, and his pregnant wife Jessie Adamo have faced criticism after sharing a video showcasing the creation of their baby’s nursery.

The 33-year-old entertainer uploaded footage documenting the process of organising the room and assembling furniture. At one point, he removed his shirt, revealing his toned physique, and joked about the overwhelming amount of cardboard he needed to dispose of.

In the video, John wrote: ‘Dear baby, while mum is building you, Daddy is building the nursery and disposing of all the cardboard.’

However, the spotlight quickly shifted when viewers noticed one particular detail: the couple’s cat, Bally, was seen sleeping in the baby’s cot.

As John gently stroked Bally, the cat appeared perfectly comfortable in the snug new space, but the moment sparked mixed reactions from followers.

One person cautioned: ‘Hey John, please keep the cat out of the cot or where the newborn will lay as cat fur can cause allergies in babies.’

Another chimed in with a warning: ‘I hate to be that person but I have to say it. If your cat is comfortable in the crib before baby comes home, don’t be surprised if they climb in there when baby transitions from bassinet. I’ve heard accidental smothering stories, which is terrifying.’

A third shared their own experience: ‘Cats love the smell of babies so just be careful. My mum found our cat with the baby inside the bassinet on her Christening day—fortunately not on top of her!’

Others echoed similar concerns, urging the couple to keep Bally away from the cot to avoid any future issues. One user wrote: ‘No one is hating when they tell you don’t encourage the cat to sit in the cot, because the cat will think it’s OK and one time baby may be in there. U need to try to discourage Bally to stay out.’

Another added: ‘Be careful of the cat. My Aunty found it sitting on my cousin’s face when she was a baby.’

Despite the wave of unsolicited advice, many rushed to defend the couple.

‘All the unsolicited parenting advice from all the experts,’ one supporter commented.

Another dismissed the criticism entirely: ‘Cute! Love seeing the cat in the bassinet.’

One person addressed the controversy directly, writing: ‘Omg can everyone stop about their cat. You’re supposed to introduce cats to the new furniture before the baby arrives because then it’s not a whole new thing for them as they’ve already gotten used to it.

‘But also have some common sense—they’re most likely going to re-wash the things the cat has been lying all over. Let people live their lives damn,’ they added.

John and Jessie, who have been married since 2019, revealed in June they were expecting their first child—a baby boy.

The announcement was made with an emotional video capturing the moment they discovered Jessie was pregnant. They captioned the clip: ‘It has been a long journey but our beautiful angel has finally been sent to us. We are so full of joy and can’t wait to meet you - baby Adamo Pearce due Dec 2024.’
