Fact of the Day: What does ‘YKK’ mean?

Ever spotted 'YKK' on your zipper and wondered what it means? It stands for Yoshida Kogyo Kabushikikaisha, a Japanese company founded in 1934 by Tadao Yoshida. Today, YKK is the world’s largest zipper manufacturer, producing over 7 billion zippers a year—more than half of all zippers on the planet!

YKK’s success comes from its obsessive quality control: the company makes not just the zippers, but also the machines that make the zippers, to ensure everything works perfectly. From jeans to jackets to bags, if it zips—chances are, it’s YKK.
