Fact of the Day: This pizza was named after a queen!​

Ahh, the Margherita pizza. Everyone likes a simple yet flavourful slice of this pie.

But, why is it named Margherita and not Basil, Tomato and Cheese? One royal has the answer to that...

During a visit to Naples, King Umberto I and Queen Margherita requested pizza.

The queen loved the shop’s mozzarella pizza so much that the shop decided to name the pie after her.
