Fact of the Day: The Olympics was not just about sports
When we think of The Olympic Games, we think of athletes pushing themselves to the limit for glory.
Others may think of moments of sportsmanship and camaraderie. Meanwhile, others may think of funny moments, especially of the recently concluded Olympic Games.
However, a forgotten aspect of the Olympic Games did not just highlight athletes: it also showcased world-class artists.
From 1912 to 1948, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) handed out medals across five categories related to creative arts.
These categories included architecture, painting, sculpture, literature and music.
