Fact of the Day: Carrots were not originally orange
We all know carrots for its iconic orange colour, but that was not always the case!
Carrots were once purple and yellow. The first records show that carrots were purple and yellow until the 1400s or 1500s. Orange carrots were later on cultivated in the 17th century.
The taste of each colour differs by variety, but there's no drastic flavour contrast between these carrot variants.
