Eucalyptus tea benefits
The medicinal properties of eucalyptus herbal tea
The medicinal properties of eucalyptus are mainly attributable to eucalyptol, a colorless natural compound with a fairly strong and very characteristic odor, close to that of camphor.
Here is an overview of the health benefits of this plant, and advice for preparing it for inhalation or infusion.
© Respiratory infections (colds, sinusitis, bronchitis, flu):
Eucalyptus promotes the evacuation of secretions, which helps relieve bronchitis or coughs, and it fights flu.
- As an infusion, allow 5 g of dried leaves for 250 ml of boiling water, twice a day.
© Disinfection:
Eucalyptus is a powerful antiseptic.
• The infusion and mother tincture help clean wounds, including burns and skin ulcerations.
• Eucalyptus vapor purifies the air in the room of a sick person (with a cold, for example).
Its antifungal action acts on scalp mycosis and helps fight lice.
© Sore throat:
- Gargle. Infuse 2 g to 3 g of dried leaves in 100 ml of boiling water for 10 minutes. Rinse your mouth or gargle with the filtered and cooled preparation two to three times a day.
WARNING: eucalyptus, and more particularly its essential oil, is contraindicated for pregnant women and young children.
