Electric jug

Remember the old electric jug? Before the sleek, modern versions we have today, this classic model was what Aussies used for their cuppa. Its distinct buzzing sound was unmistakable, and the parts were cheap and easy to replace. Some designs featured kookaburras, frogs, and even faces!

What is so old about them..I still have one. Great.

Believe it or not, but I still have that electric jug! I have hung onto it, as a keepsake. I remember going to the hardware store, and buying a replacement element, when the original burned out.

Yes I do remember having one, they certainly wouldn't pass the safety standards of today thankfully

I remember my mum having one. Way better than plastic jugs these days, however thankful we can get stainless steel.

Sure do. I remember mum buying the replacement element, but she never replaced the thread bare cord. Ouch! not todays safety standard.

The only memory I remember is my dad useing the cord on me

Yes fond memories of Mum n Dad boiling the kettle with a nice bikkie or 2 or 3!

Yes we had one and I always thought how heavy and unbalanced type of design they were. They were cheap and easy to repair though.

Yeah it was usually a case of replacing the element

Yes, we used to get threatened with the jug cord if we misbehaved, I got it a couple of times and you don't forget it and I can't remember what I had done to deserve it. I remember other kids used to cop the jug cord also.
