Here are the ingredients you need!

For the filling:
1. 36 kilograms of fresh or frozen fruit (like berries, sliced peaches, sliced apples, sliced plums, etc.)
2. 1/2 cup of sugar
3. 2 and 1/2 tablespoons cornstarch
4. 1/8 teaspoon kosher salt

Ingredients for the cake:
1. 175g all-purpose flour
2. 1 cup sugar
3. 1 teaspoon baking powder
4. 1/4 teaspoon kosher salt
5. 170g melted unsalted butter
6. Vanilla ice cream, to serve

Start by preheating your oven to 375°F. Combine the fruit, sugar, cornstarch, and salt in a 9x13 baking dish and stir until everything is evenly mixed. If necessary, add up to 1/4 of a cup of extra sugar to sweeten tart fruits.

Next, spread the mixture into an even layer and prepare your cake mixture. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder and salt until everything is fully combined. Sprinkle the mixture over the top of the fruit and pour the melted butter over the top.

Bake the dump cake for 35-45 minutes or until the fruit is bubbling and the top is golden. Push any dry pockets of flour down with a spoon if you notice them towards the end of cooking. When it's finished, serve warm with a scoop of ice cream for the ultimate sweet treat.

Go ahead and give this dump cake recipe a try! Keep any leftovers in the fridge and warm it up the next day for a sweet snack.

I’m just wondering what the right amount of fruit is 😂 I think 36kg of fruit is a bit too much 😂

Dump cakes are great , you can basically put any fruit, chocolate ect in.

All purpose flour is Australian equal to plain flour , adding baking powder helps it rise

36 kg was the first item that caught my eye, then the size of the dish @ 9x13. Even in inches this dish would overflow much more than ten times.

Sethia, I think you probably meant to have a zero at the end of that 36 and gms not kg, or maybe, just maybe, it should be 3.6kg (that too would be too much). Forgiven, but please confirm.

This is the original recipe

For the fruit
  • 3 pounds (1.36 kilograms) fresh or frozen fruit (like berries, sliced peaches, sliced apples, sliced plums, etc.)
  • 1/2 cup (100g) sugar, plus more to taste
  • 2 1/2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1/8 teaspoon kosher salt
For the cake
  • 1 1/4 cups (175g) all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup (200g) sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 3/4 cup (170g) melted unsalted butter
  • Vanilla ice cream, to serve
It's an American recipe

All purpose flour is plain flour

Corn starch is corn flour

when it states Hosher salt you can use cooking salt instead but a little less , for this one I probably wouldn't use any it's only 1/4 teaspoon so a pinch

The 375 deg is Fahrenheit not Celsius, most ovens in Australia is Celsius and temp is 190 C
