Drab bathroom gets a stunning makeover with help from Kmart

People spend a lot of time in their bathrooms, so if you've been feeling like that space in your home has gotten a bit boring and outdated lately, then it might be time to give it a much-needed makeover.

Of course, we are well aware of how difficult money is to come by these days, so we won't advise hiring a professional and spending hundreds of dollars just to give your bathroom a fresh new look.

Here at the SDC, we're committed to helping you save money and live within your means. That is why we're going to show you how to make your bathroom look far more expensive than it actually is by using only a few items you can easily buy from the local shops!

Posting on a popular Facebook page, one mum revealed how she gave her bathroom an incredibly amazing transformation using Kmart's $15 Marble Look 8-Pack Vinyl Floor Tiles.

The self-adhesive tiles, according to Kmart, are ideal for kitchens, bedrooms, and living spaces because they don't need to be grouted or cemented. The woman still applied some grout, though, as was her personal preference.

Aside from the tiles, the woman said she also used tile and laminate paint to update the shower area and vanity unit.

'The things you do while home sick and "resting". I rested while the paint and grout were drying!' she wrote in her post on social media.

'I used White Knight Primer and Tile/Laminate Paint to paint shower feature tiles and vanity. I have only hand wiped the tiles at the moment to clean up the grout. A quick sweep and damp should keep the floor clean,' she added.

There was a lot of awe and surprise from the Facebook group members at the drastic change that had been made to the woman's bathroom, and many of them said they almost didn't recognise it.

'Looks like a completely different bathroom. Amazing,' wrote one user in the comments section, with a second person adding, 'OMG, that looks fabulous!'

Others, meanwhile, applauded her for being clever and entirely redecorating her bathroom with only a few store-bought items, with a fellow homeowner saying: 'Wow, you really transformed the space. It looks so modern now. Well done!'

What about you, folks? What do you think of this bathroom transformation? Honestly, if she hadn't clarified, we wouldn't have known it was the same bathroom, either.

Who knew that with only a few simple purchases from Kmart, a home could be transformed into something out of a design magazine, eh? Looks like we'll have to give this a try!

I'm not sure the wording is right when you say " a few simple changes..... the cost of a new vanity and the cost of the plumber to uninstall the old one and put the new one in. The cost of tiling and a tiler. It certainly is a great reno though

Very impressive! Looks awesome. Well done.

I'm sure they said the floor tiles were vinyl, so no tiler needed and the shower tiles were painted.
Not too hard to remove and refit a vanity either, as long as you're not moving the location of the vanity a plumber shouldn't be required.
I'm a 75 year old woman and have done this several times.
Congrats on the remno, great job.

Congrats on the remno, great job.
Just read the article again, she actually stated that she also painted the vanity so definitely no plumber needed .
A word of warning though, stick down vinyl tiles are a no-no for wet areas, have been in the Reno game for many years and would not recommend to anyone that these tiles be used in wet areas. Also don't clean them with a steam mo, it breaks down the adhesive.

It's the same vanity, just painted and the lady did the floor tiling herself. She also painted the wall tiles in the shower recess herself. No plumber or tiler needed.
