Double Decker Buses​

I remember when I was maybe 6 or 7 around 1967 and waiting at Central Station to catch a bus to Leichardt or Bondi and hoping and praying our bus would be a double decker bus.
And most of the time it was , I remember running up those winding stairs and rushing so I could get that front seat .

When I look back at these little memories it feels like another life time ago

One school holidays, I decided to take the 190 bus trip from Wynyard to Palm Beach. It was a long but great trip.

Great you ask? Because when I was walking along Palm Beach with my shoes off and my feet in the water, something strange wrapped around my ankle.

An old paper $10 note! I was the richest 13 year old that day!

My late husband drove a double-decker for years both in England and in Australia.

When we lived in Sydney as a kid I caught 2 of these each way to school at Dover Heights. They were noisy and hot or cold depending on the season but they were fun and greatly reduced the walking I had to do. I do remember going up the stairs one day and slipped and banged my shin on the metal step. I limped home for some first aid and it finally stopped bleeding!
