Don't Let Soggy Salad Leaves Ruin Your Day! This Lifehack Will Make Them Crisp Again

Don't Let Soggy Salad Leaves Ruin Your Day! This Lifehack Will Make Them Crisp Again
If you've ever had a soggy salad, you know how frustrating it can be. The leaves are all wilted and limp, and the flavours start to taste bland. Imagine how much worse it would be if you were at a picnic and your salad was the only one that was soggy; I guess it would be pretty embarrassing. Or think of yourself waking up in the morning, all excited to have a healthy and delicious salad for lunch, only to find that your salad leaves in the fridge are wilted and soggy. I know they are absolutely the worst, aren't they?

If you're the one who's always dealing with soggy salad leaves, you must be excited to know that there's a lifehack for that!

Well, thanks to former MasterChef Australia contestant Matt Landmark (who was unfortunately eliminated after a Messina pressure test), we now have a workaround to help rescue your wilted salad and squishy veggies.

What you'll need for this hack:
1. Your old wilted salad leaves, such as iceberg lettuce or softening vegetables (carrots, potatoes, etc.)
2. A bowl
3. Some ice-cold water

What to do now with the stuff we’ve asked you to prepare:
1. Separate any undesirable leaves/parts of your salad and vegetables with your hands or a knife.
2. Chill the salad in a large bowl partially filled with water and ice.
3. Keep your salad leaves or veggies submerged in ice water until they are crisp again. This can take anywhere from 15 to 60 minutes for the most part.

With just that, you can start creating magic again with your greek salad, cauliflower salad, chicken Caesar salad, green salad, and whatnot!

I hear you saying, "Great, but why does this work?". Well, our MasterChef Landmark gave a mind-blowing explanation…

"As the vegetables/salad sit in your fridge or cupboard, their cells start to dehydrate as their roots are no longer able to take up water – this is why they start to go soft or wilt. Leaving them to soak in ice-cold water rehydrates the cells and helps to return them to a crisp and crunchy texture!"

A-ha! Now you say you wish you could've known this before. But better late than never, we say!

Since we're now done reviving your dying, wilted, and soggy salad, it's time to enjoy them to the fullest. So, let's go ahead and put on our best dressing by checking this article for a wide variety of ideas on how to create a life-changing salad!
