Orange Chicken Sauce Recipe

Ingredients
For the Sauce
- 1 large orange juice and zest
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- ¼ cup rice vinegar or white vinegar
- ½ cup brown sugar packed
- 2 large garlic cloves minced, or 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch mixed with 1 tbsp water
For the Chicken
- 1 pound cooked chicken
Instructions
- Place the orange juice, orange zest, soy sauce, vinegar, brown sugar and garlic in a medium saucepan.
- Heat the mixture over medium heat and bring to a low boil. Carefully taste the mixture and add more soy sauce, sugar, or vinegar to suit your taste.
- Mix the cornstarch and water in a cup to make a slurry and pour into the sauce. Stir constantly until the sauce begins to thicken enough to coat the back of a spoon. This step can take anywhere from about 30 seconds to a few minutes.
- Add fully cooked fried chicken or the meat of your choice and toss to fully coat in the sauce.
- Garnish with optional green onions, red pepper flakes, or sesame seeds and serve.
- This recipe makes enough sauce to coat 1 pound of chicken.
