The Kmart Home Decor and Hacks Facebook group is a great community to find inspiration for affordable DIY projects, as well as share tips, and tricks on any project you have worked on in the past. She explained it only took three coats of vintage green chalk paint, about one and a half jars to achieve the final look.

‘No sanding, painted straight on, haven't waxed or varnished it,’ she added.

Members of the group were quick to comment and praise her for a job well done on her project. Another even suggested applying the Kmart’s $10 lacquer to protect the furniture and its new paint job.

With its affordable price point, it’s no surprise that it garnered a lot of attention, along with members raising questions about the paint’s lasting effect.

One person inquired, ‘Is it scraping off easily?’

Fortunately a seasoned DIYer came to rescue and shared their experience with Kmart’s chalk paint, ’I've used it on my table legs and chairs’.

‘We don't use the table much, but the chairs get moved and knocked, and six months in, it's holding up. I think the most important thing is giving the paint time to cure and using the appropriate seal to protect it.’

Here at SDC we love a budget make-over, with a little creativity and Kmart’s affordable paint options there is no excuse to not get started on your next DIY venture.
