Disgusting find in Coles​

I visited my local Coles store recently and was HORRIFIED and DISGUSTED at the sight of cut price meat for sale on the milk shelves! Thinking it must have been some sort of error, I spoke to a staff member who advised me that it was meant to be there as a new store policy. I expressed my absolute shock and horror and she told me that many of the staff also feel the same way. How can storing meat and milk on the same shelf pass Health Department standards! This is just wrong on so many levels.
Has anyone else come across this dreadful ‘new policy’ in Coles?

I do not see an issue , the meat is NOT open slabs of meat its wrapped up & sealed, the milk is in bottles ..what difference is that to carrying them home & putting them in your fridge ?......Chicken has to be handled carefully & not stored on other food, but come on...."Another Storm in a chiller"....

What cross contamination???? Both products are sealed these days and probably close to each other in your fridge!!!!

You take these products home packed together, store them in your fridge together (milk is then opened) so what the hell are you so worried about. Stop being so precious.

I'd be more concerned if the meat was stored on the shelf with the "Longlife Milk" then it would be a worry.

Most keep dairy and meat in the same refrigerator and eat pork products again the same fridge.You must have more money than you need to afford that luxurious 2fridge approach .

A slight over reaction on your behalf if the meat was packaged and the milk was cartons or bottled there will be no cross contamination.
Granted it probably doesn't look good, but I don't think and health standards are being broken here.

What a load of old cobblers, HORRIFIED AND DISGUSTED! As many have commented, as long as the meat is securely wrapped and the milk is packaged properly, there is no risk of cross-contamination, and you're creating a storm in a teacup! There are far more problems in the world than your topic!

Please explain what is the difference in having the two (2) products on the chilled shelves : and you the shopper purchasing each of those items and putting them in your bag or trolley together, before the checkout folk scan and pack them again in a bag in close contact, before you the shopper take your meat and milk purchases home and put them into the same fridge: i.e. together

Seriously!? Do you use separate trolley for your items when you go shopping and do you have several refrigerators for all your items at home?
