Discovery inside missing woman's home leaves cleaner in disbelief

Professional cleaner and mould remover Ted Ven and his Tru Organic Restoration team were called into the property of an elderly woman who'd gone missing for over a year and left the home to rot.

However, they weren't prepared for the disturbing sight they were about to see.

Texas mould removers were in for a shock when a welfare check on an elderly woman’s home brought them face-to-face with an out-of-control infestation.

The cleaners said they received calls from concerned neighbours claiming that mould was growing on the outside of the abandoned house.

Once the team arrived, they saw that the dilapidated home was covered in black mould that climbed nearly every wall.

Upon stepping inside the home, the cleaners saw that fuzzy white mould was also spreading across the floor and furniture.

The property was quickly deemed a microbial hazard and sealed for safety reasons. Ted and his team worked on getting the place clean while donning a respirator and protective clothing.

In the video they uploaded to their official social media page, the cleaners could be seen ripping off pieces of the wall, showing how black mould had penetrated it completely and was growing on both sides.

The video has garnered over 20 million views and 2.2 million likes, with viewers horrified by the state of the house.

‘My initial reaction was pure shock,’ Ted told reporters.

He continued: ‘This was one of the worst cases I’ve seen in a while. We were called out to assist with a home that had substantial mould growth inside.

The cleaner also added that ‘no one’ wanted to go inside the home to search for the missing woman, which is why they were brought in to help.

In the footage shared online, Ted explained that the woman had not been seen or heard from in over a year.

‘She has no friends or family,’ he stated.

Eerily enough, the home was still filled with the woman’s clothing and other possessions, including a car parked inside the garage, which was also falling apart.

To prevent misunderstandings and quell fears that the woman might’ve died in the home, therefore causing such a strong mould infestation, Ted confirmed in a follow-up video that his team did not find remains of a human body while working in the house.

In a series of updates, the cleaners showed how they were searching the home for the woman, but without any success.

‘Mould remediation in progress. [The] subject has NOT been located inside. Search continues. More updates to come,’ Ted said in one of the videos.

Another clip, which shows mould covering walls and piles of belongings in the home, is captioned ‘the search continues’, and there have been no further updates.

Ted added that officials were still searching for the missing homeowner.

The latest video from the cleaners showed Ted and his team ripping apart the walls, leaving areas of the home a complete husk except for the wooden beams. The team also appeared busy sorting the woman’s possessions into rubbish bags as they cleared out the home.

Meanwhile, social media users who saw the post were left horrified by what they watched.

‘It took them a year to do a wellness check?’ One wrote in the comments.

Another agreed and stated: ‘That’s so sad! People didn’t see her around and didn’t call for a wellness check until a year later?! Poor lady.’

‘So much mould? How does that happen in just one year?’ Another asked, to which someone responded that the house might have been flooded at some point.

‘There was a water line on the living room wall,’ they added.

‘Check on your neighbours, people,’ someone else replied.

Others suggested that maybe the previous homeowner intentionally left the home without taking any of her stuff.

‘She left it all there because mould spores attach themselves to your things, and when you move them, you move the mould,’ offered one social media user.

‘If the black mould is THAT BAD, I hope she left and never paid rent to whoever owns this place again,’ another responded.

Exposure to black mould can often lead to sneezing, coughing, nasal congestion, postnasal drip and red eyes. It can lead to more serious symptoms for those with asthma, including wheezing, shortness of breath and chest tightness.

All types of mould can potentially cause health issues and need to be removed.

The abandoned house being in that state isn't surprising, but my heart breaks for the woman. I do hope despite everything she's fine!
