Discover this dry cleaner's secret to better stain removal results

Laundry day can be a real chore for many of us–fumbling around for the stain stick, making several trips to the supermarket for detergent, and waiting for hours for the laundry to dry.

But a ‘game-changing’ laundry tip from experienced dry cleaner Jason Pozniak might revolutionise the chore.

Pozniak suggested hanging a bottle of stain removal spray off the side of your laundry hamper.

This clever hack allows you to spray stains as you put dirty clothes in the hamper instead of just before the garment goes in the washing machine.

As Pozniak explains, 'The longer this stuff sits on a stain, the better it's going to work. So you save a trip to the laundry room, and your clothes stay stain free. It’s amazing—trust me on this one!'

Alternatively, you can keep a stain removal stick in a cupboard near the hamper for easy access.

There are plenty of other time-saving tricks offered by Pozniak, such as sorting your clothes by weight before putting them in the dryer. For instance, you can do a load of towels first and then one load of clothes next, so you’re not waiting for your towels to dry while a shirt is sitting in the dryer getting overdried.

Pozniak also recommended using cold water for washing all your clothes with minimal detergent.

He said that clothes generally don't get that dirty, so you’ll get good results with cold water and a good detergent. ‘Hot water is going to do a better job cleaning your clothing, but you should really be reserving it for smelly or stained loads. Think of hot water as power washing–it's super effective, but you don't want to do it all the time,' he explained.

You should also be using mesh bags–also known as washing bags–for socks and delicate clothes that need washing, such as cashmere jumpers. This will save you money and also help you avoid losing socks.

My tip for removing stains is use your laundry powder or laundry liquid.
Get a spray bottle, pour some powder or liquid in the bottle, then fill the rest with water.
Shake the bottle so it mixes well. If I have a bad stain, I spray and leave it until I do a load.
