Discover the latest must-have collector's item as Perth Mint unveils stunning new coins for its 125th anniversary!

As the Perth Mint marks a significant milestone, celebrating 125 years of rich history and exceptional craftsmanship, collectors and enthusiasts are presented with a unique opportunity to own a piece of their legacy.

The renowned Australian institution has unveiled a series of five special coins, each a testament to the Mint's dedication to quality and its pivotal role in the nation's history.

The Perth Mint, wholly owned by the Government of Western Australia, has been an integral part of the country's gold rush heritage since it first opened its doors on June 20, 1899.

As Australia's oldest operating mint, it has not only witnessed but also shaped the evolution of the precious metals industry, providing premium products that have reached markets across the globe.

In honour of their 125th anniversary, the Mint has crafted a collection that features two pure gold coins, two pure silver coins, and one pure platinum coin.

Each coin bears the effigy of King Charles III on one side, symbolising the Mint's historical connection to the British Royal Mint, and a special 'P125' mint mark on the other, signifying the Perth Mint's 125 years of operation.

The designs artfully incorporate iconic Australian fauna, with the kangaroo, koala, and kookaburra gracing these limited-edition coins, further cementing their status as collectibles that capture the essence of Australia's natural beauty.

Perth Mint Chief Executive Paul Graham has expressed pride in the anniversary coins. He said, ‘We are proud to be releasing these 125th anniversary coins to allow Western Australians and the broader public to join us in celebrating this unique and tradition-rich organisation.’

Why is the Mint wasting money on new coins whe the banks are hell bent on going cashless. Millions of dollars wasted when people are living in poverty.

I think your on the wrong track. These coins are a storage of value (metal content) and would never be used as cash.

These coins will never be used as cash, imagine taking a 1oz gold coin into Woolies and buying your groceries and asking .... got change for this $5300 gold coin. These are to be used as a store of value and tucked under your mattress.

An ordinary 1 ounce gold Kangaroo coin Elizabeth Head app $2472 as this coinage at today's prices a tad over $1200. Not a bad earn for the Perth Mint, I'll stick with Liz at the moment, Charlie won't be far behind.
